Mission: The people of color in independent schools (pocis) was formed to provide a network for students of color in independent schools. Toward that objective, pocis hosts four conferences each year for students in middle school and high school, as well as for adults who work with the students in member schools.
Programs: Scholarships to high school students at pocis-member schools, given to those active in pocis conferences and workshops. Consideration is made as to financial need and community service commitment by the student.
middle and high school conferences which provided a forum for student networking, student training in multi-culturalism and a social outlet for students of color to meet other students from other independent schools who are in similar positions.
