One Heart World-Wide

Po Box 2280 Telluride CO 81435 USA

One Heart World-Wide was established in 1998 to address the high rate of maternal and newborn deaths during childbirth in Tibet. One of every thirty-three women die during childbirth and one in ten babies die within the first month of life. One Heart World-Wide is working to reduce these tragic numbers through its essential programs. Our mission is to give women in China, Nepal, Mexico, and Tibet the chance for a healthy birthing process.

One H.E.A.R.T.'s programs include midwife and physician training, nutrition education, and village outreach projects in rural Tibet. Each program reaches a different medical care level, ranging from the village level to the county level.

I've been with this non-profit for over 10 years, first serving as a volunteer to teach about pregnancy complications and how people living in rural Tibet could recognize and treat some of these major complications. I was asked to be on the board, agreed, and have been an active member since our incorporation about 8 years ago. We teach physicians, midwives, skilled birth attendants, traditional birth attendants, local village people, and families about safe birthing practices. This empowers local people to advance their own communities, while creating the ultimate in sustainability. Please visit the website at www.oneheartworld-wide.org .

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Advertise more about it. This is a fabulous organization, and saves lives of women and newborns every day. We don't really use our budget to advertise (because we use it for programs and teaching), but if I had the resources, I'd let everyone in the world know about it!

Will you volunteer or donate to this organization beyond what is required of board members?
