Mission: Okoa refuge provides services to individuals through providing access to healthcare, spiritual training and the construction of homes while ministering at churches and other organizations. It responds to invitations from churches and other humanitarian organizations to provide teaching and building services.
Programs: The organization operates an orphanage in uganda. It provides security, medical care, and sustenance for its staff and, on average, approximately 197 children. The organization also runs several projects to help the orphanage and community become self-sustainable.
I am a physician who had the blessing to be able to work with the director of OKOA Refuge when she was a nurse here in Jacksonville, Fl. Her husband ran this non-profit organization. She worked as a nurse and gave half of her salary to okoa. The two of them adopted a little African girl, and then the whole family moved to Africa to help those in need. When I once told her I was in awe of what she and her husband were doing, she said: how could I not do this. Just one look in the children's eyes made me not be able to do anything else.
My family and I have been donating to okoa ever since. I urge anyone who wants to donate to a great cause to consider this organization.
