Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Disaster Aid

Mission: National Firefighters Endowment is a non-profit, public charity with a driving passion to protect the lives of our firefighters. We believe that small actions can have life altering results and that the right equipment in the hands of our heroes can literally be the difference between life and death. You can probably recall being asked as a child what you wanted to do when you grew up. If you are on our site it’s probably because you said something along the lines of a firefighter, or maybe a police man or woman. Probably even an astronaut for a bit. More than likely it wasn’t because you were concerned with your career path or having a JOB. What you really wanted to be was BRAVE, ADVENTUROUS, and to have an impact that was larger than life itself. It is that same child-like ambition that drives National Firefighters Endowment to spark innovative ideas, forge collaborations and shape creative grant-making to ensure that our childhood heroes have the proper equipment to carry on the legend of the fire service and to come home safely to their families.

While I didn't get to meet the men and women personally (detailed out of my house that day) I came back my next work day to a brand new Ventmaster rotarty saw and assorted hand tools that were donated to us, things that the city of Detroit would NEVER have purchased for us. The saw is something that we have needed since I transferred to Ladder 26. The hand tools and saw will make our jobs much easier as well. I cant thank them enough for the hard work and dedication to helping complete strangers. Thanks again!

The Endowment Fund stopped in Detroit with donations for our department. The most courteous and selfless people I have ever met! They took their own time to raise money for equipemnt, purchase equipment, and then hand deliver it to us on the front lines. They actually thanked US for our service, when they were there to help us in the first place. It was a phenomenal experience and I personally thank all of the volunteers, seen or not, that we're involved in the project. Thanks!,,,

I am very proud to have an affiliation (rank of Captain) with the National Firefighters Endowment. In a time where budget cuts are putting fire departments across our country in precarious fiscal and operating situations, the NFE has become a option to all of us who serve to protect others, as a viable solution in obtaining funding assistance for equipment needed which helps us to provide the kind of services the public can and should expect from us. In today's economic climate, where grant money is becoming increasingly difficult to secure, it's a awesome feeling to know that an organization like the National Firefighters Endowment is willing to offer assistance when it's most desperately needed.

The NFE volunteers show that brotherhood does not stay in just one department or one state it is a force in which you can not stop. When you get a group of brothers and sisters together there is no goal that can't be reached and the NFE strives to reach every goal and help in anyway they can.

The NFE goes to show that the brotherhood within the fire service is alive and well. This organization brings together fire service members and supporters from around the country and allows us to help those of us that are in need. Not only do we help departments out with their needs, but we have a direct input into who gets the donations and in most cases a representative makes the presentation directly. Of all of the organizations I belong to I find this one to be one of the best organized and most focus driven. We know our mission and we execute it well.

I am fortunate to be a member of fire departments whose needs do not go unmet. As such I began looking for a way to give back to a brotherhood that has given so much to me. I found the NFE and immediately knew I wanted to be a part of something great. This is one payment that I do not hesitate to make or dread paying. I know that the funds that are raised are going directly to where they are needed and they are making an immediate impact to help struggling departments. I do not know of any other organization out there that does so much for the fire service regardless of location, size or makeup of personnel. I am honored to be a small part of such a grand organization, and am very proud when speaking to colleagues about what this organization does and how they can be a part of it.

The National Firefighters Endowment is living proof that a group of focused individuals that may not know each other personally, but only share a common interest/passion, is able to truly make a difference! It doesn't matter of your from a town of 50 people, or a city with 100,000, the NFE is dedicated to serving those who otherwise would not have funds to take care of their own. With today's economy and public service budgets on the chopping block, the NFE is making up the difference. From having apparatus donated/delivered to departments effected by Hurricane Sandy to replacing essential equipment stolen off of Detroit Fire apparatus, one project at a time...they are making positive impacts on those who are answering the calls on a daily basis. I say, with PRIDE, that I am a part of that dofference, and I will always support the NFE. Because they support me!

National Firefighters was helpful in securing 5 much needed helmets for our department. They also provided the tools for us to network with other firefighters and departments across the country to gain access to great training material and even equipment.

Two and a half years ago, my local fire department saved my life. In trying to make the life they've saved worth it, being a member of the Officer's Club allows me to make a monthly donation (money, in this case) that goes directly back to the firefighter community to keep them protected, educated, and encouraged... I ♥ NFE!

I have been a volunteer for this group for two years now. I have seen the dedication of helping out fire departments across the country. At a time where funding is being cut by government, it is the dedication of this group to help fill that need. I am proud to be a part of this worth group. Not only does this group provide funding for deparments, the go out of their way to welcome everyone into the organization making them part of the brotherhood. It has brought me closer to brothers from all over. My only regret is I didn't find them earlier. This group will be a part of me for the rest of my life.

I have been a part of helping to fund raise for the National Firefighters Endowment for under a year. I was impressed at the level of dedication that this organization has. They mean it when they say they take care of their own. Their work far exceeds their area, they are across the country helping were ever needed. I am proud to be a part of their orginization, even in just a small way. I am honored to call them Brothers and Sisters.

I've been looking for an organization that is set to help firefighters where I am able to contribute and have some input into the direction of the organization. The NFE has given much to the fire service, not only in equipment but allowed Firefighters from anywhere to be involved and spread the brotherhood to other firefighters. It's much more than a nonprofit, it's a family helping family.

When I became a member of the NFE I knew that it was a great organization because it dealt directly with my passion, firefighting. However I wasn't prepared for just how amazing this organization was until after I became involved.

The NFE is filled with truly selfless individuals that share the same passion as I do. Their ability to go above and beyond when another fire department is in need or when a brother or sister firefighter is down on their luck. This concept really came to fruition when one fire department was in need of everything short of a firehouse, the major need being a firetruck. One of our members set out on a quest to make that no longer a need, and it was accomplished. Using local resources, he was able to secure and ship a firetruck to this department on top of other much needed equipment. It was an effort from himself and many others on our organization that made it possible to meet the needs of the brothers and sisters less fortunate.

That story is only the tip of the iceberg where the NFE is concerned. Day after day I see new posts of someone in need and the NFE doesn't hesitate to respond immediately. I may never meet all or even some of the extraordinary individuals who I have the privilege of joining in this organization, but watching everyone come together to make things happen is rewarding enough for me.

This charity is about two things, firefighting, and helping others. It's not out to prove anything to any other charity or toot their own horn when it comes to conquering someone else's needs. The NFE is here to help when things get tough. This is a charity that I am extremely proud to be a part of and will never die.

This is truely a nonprofit that gives back to help other firefighters get much needed equipment. You see and get shown where the money for the equipment go's. I get to listen to the video's of departments that show why they need to have a certian piece of equipment. It is the ones who give the money to this group that has imput on how and who should be awarded the grant. It is just so awesome of a group to totally give back.

National Firefighters Endowment takes up the slack where other funding organizations can't. NFE members, both far and near, used initiative and outside the box thinking to immediately find out the needs of fire departments that suffered losses from Hurricane Sandy and mobilized it's resources providing needed available apparatus and equipment to replace those lost or damaged. This organization, not only provided for these fire departments, but also provides equipment to fire departments in need on a regular basis. Members of the National Firefighter Endowment actively seeks out departments in need along with pursuing ways for community awareness for support for their local fire departments whether they be volunteer or career.

The National Firefighters Endowment is a top-notch charitable foundation that exemplifies my favorite phrase, "Service Above Self, Brotherhood Above All". They keep the Brotherhood, as understood by anyone who is a firefighter, alive in ways that go above and beyond simply providing grants for departments that are needy; they have provided donated equipment, apparatus, gear, radios, and so much more to meet the needs of fire departments that either lack the funds to replace old equipment or do not have it at all. More recently, the Endowment stepped up to help departments in NY and NJ who were devastated by Superstorm Sandy. I am proud to be part of this great organization and know that I am helping my Brothers and Sisters in ways that are greater than what I could ever do on my own as an individual.

The National Firefighters Endowment is a great organization whose primary objective is to help provide fire departments all over the country with the tools and equipment they need to be able to do their jobs most effectively, and provide the highest level of care to our communities. As a fellow volunteer firefighter and member of the Officer's Club, I am proud and honored to know that I am helping in that goal. In the time I have been a member, I have seen its outreach capabilities continue to grow, reaching the victims of Sandy with full force. I truly appreciate what this organization stands for, and will be a member forever.

This orgainization goes beyond "Firefighers helping Firefighters" in ways only a Firefighter would know. I learned about this organization some time ago on Facebook and came across the Bucket Brigade. I started my own brigade and raised some funds. Ended up applyng for the Thin Red Line card and from there joined the Officer's Club. There is something to be said about a group like this that can capture the heart of someone 100's to 1000's of miles away in the way that is organization has captured mine. By raising funds, we are putting rescue tools in a firefighter's hand and protective gear on a firefighter's person. To me, that is just as good as saving that firefighter from a building, without the possibility of physically being there.

An excellent organization with an noble goal: The National Firefighters Endowment (NFE) seeks to fund grants and step in where other sources of funding for our nations Fire Services fall short. Most recently, the NFE has been able to locate, ship, and assist in outfitting a full Class A Pumper for the Broad Channel Fire Department after their original equipment was completely destroyed due to Hurricane Sandy. And all within a matter of days in order to ensure that the residents within the Broad Channel response area continued to be protected.

The National Firefighters Endowment really gets it! I have supported this organization since they launched The Officer's Club allowing me to donate on a monthly basis. Just within the short time I have been donating, I have seen remarkable results. I am at rest knowing that my money is used to help those in the fire service that really need it. Most recently, I have watched the NFE pony up and help those who needed it the most after Hurricane Sandy hit the NY/NJ area! The National Firefighters Endowment has quickly become a positive and far reaching asset to the fire service. Begun with several grassroots funding mechanisms, the NFE has found new and inventive ways of getting firefighters and the public involved in helping out Fire Departments. I cannot imagine how effective this organization will be once it is better funded and able to continue to make vast donations and assist more and more fire departments in the years to come. The NFE is a true testament of firefighters and others wanting to make a difference when Fire Departments have no where else to turn for help.

I was looking for something I could do on a monthly basis and honestly not even think about it. I just wanted to do something good. I found National Firefighters Endowment(NFE) on Facebook a couple of months ago. I signed up for the Officer's club and I couldn't be happier with the amount of joy it's given me to know I am apart of an organization that came to the aide of victims of Hurricane Sandy. I don't know about you, but MY organization gave away a fire engine to a department that needed it really bad. I love the NFE and I will be a lifelong member of the officers club! PTB
