As an only child raised by a single mother, my immediate family consisted of only two people, my mother and I. My mother used this family dynamic to foster a sense of strength through all situations. When my mother's life was tragically taken at the hand of a drunk driver, I feel the way she raised me enabled me to be strong and move forward even though my world had been flipped upside down.
I feel I did handle this time of my life stronger than most, but after a few years it was only a matter of time before I reached a breaking point and I found myself needing help. Luckily a M.A.D.D. social worker knew of the services that My Healing Place offered and I choose to make a phone call to the organization.
That impulsive decision at that moment wound up giving me more than I ever imagined it could. I started weekly, one on one therapy sessions to work through my grief and began to understand how the trauma I experienced was effecting my life both physical and mentally.
I am forever grateful to My Healing Place for providing the world around it with a place to help people through the grieving process and to help make them better people, or at least more like the person they were before they experienced tragedy.
My Healing Place is an amazing and loving place where you can heal when you are in grief ,
To me was an amazing help when my Husband passed away and also took my grandson there with me and helped him as well .
Volunteers and people working there are caring and professional.
Thank You !! and I will recommend this to whoever are passing through this process.
My healing place was an amazing resource for me. I was referred to them by a chaplain at Dell Children's Medical Center. We had lost our daughter to H1N1 about 6 months prior and I was at my breaking point. MHP understood my grief and pain. They were able to get me through those dark days and to help me come out the other side. They also worked with my young son to see how he was doing. I learned how to talk to my children about our grief and how to help them through it as well. I am TRULY grateful that they were there for me and my family.
I love the work that My Healing Place does! I've been volunteering as a professional there for over three years. It is a wonderful place that provides necessary support for adults and children who have lost a loved one. I am so happy to be a part of an organization that helps people heal and process their grief. Families and individuals that come to our free groups can feel understood and no longer alone in their grief. Often times our society does not provide a place for us to tell our stories and share our personal experiences with loss, at My Healing Place, we understand the importance of sharing and acknowledging the evolving experience of losing a loved one.
Healing so much mind heart and soul.
Educating the public on what is available for all in the area of healing lifes hurts
My Healing Place is an organization that offers free therapy in group environments, as well as individual therapy on a sliding scale basis, for those who are dealing with grief. They have many different groups depending on your needs. I have been attending the "Younger Bereaved Spouses" group for about two years now.
When my husband died, I thought that I would be fine and did not need any help or therapy, about 8 months after his death, I realized that I was wrong, and very much felt alone and wanted to speak with others around my age who were experiencing the same things. I found My Healing Place on the internet and I am so glad that I did.
The meetings that I attend take place on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. When I began going, I wanted the meetings to be every week, they were so helpful! But in reality, every other week is the exact right amount.
I work as a volunteer facilitator of support groups at My Healing Place. In addition, I work as a therapist providing individual grief and trauma counseling to clients who have experienced a death loss or a significant trauma in their lives. The therapeutic atmosphere and services are superior in the field. Clients are treated with the utmost respect, while receiving quality mental health care. Each therapist, as well as the director, offers compassion and therapeutic expertise to each individual client.
My Healing Place is one of the most supportive organizations I've ever worked with. They have a strong sense of how to support people through healing their grief and trauma--as well as how to support people in volunteering and community outreach! The staff and volunteers are very compassionate and have, for many, done their own grief or trauma work so that they are able to help people, not just from practices that have been proven to work, but also from personal experience.
Very highly recommended!
My Healing Place is a valued resource that was not available 25 years ago when I needed someone who could understand the grief I was experiencing due to the loss of my young husband. Today Khris Ford provides me with the grief counseling and support that I need to help me become a healthier and happier woman. I didn't realize that someone could still experience the depth of grief 25 years later, but Khris is helping me identify the areas of pain and loss that have been suppressed all these years. My Healing Place provides a safe and comfortable environment to allow one to be open and honest.
