Reviews for Global Exploration For Educators Organization

Rating: 5 stars

I've traveled with GEEO 2 times, to Southern Africa and most recently Costa Rica. Both trips were well planned, packed full of fun and opportunities to learn about new places and cultures. Both my trips also had animals and nature. It's the best way for an educator to spend the summer. You learn a lot about yourself, meet great people and bring knowledge back to share with your students and staff about the world. It's the best way to learn! I've made friendships for life around the world. I'll never forget my experiences and they'll always influence the way I live and teach. Thanks GEEO!

Go GEEO! I have travelled to South Africa, the Galapagos, Eastern Europe, Greece, and this summer to Italy with this group. I enjoy having someone else to the legwork on transportation and hotels. Although these would never be called "top of the line," hotels are clean and comfortable and the transportation workable. The leaders are highly capable and sometimes quite knowledgeable about the history and culture of places visited, and they can make arrangements for individuals who wish to visit specific sites. The orientation walks always provide an overview, yet there is time to explore on your own. It is really special when possible to visit schools and work with kids and teachers. I also enjoy travelling with educators of different content areas and ages. We can learn a lot from each other, and invariably, new friendships are formed.

I have taken four trips with GEEO, to South Africa, the Galapagos, Eastern Europe and Greece. As a retired educator, I can think of no better way to travel than with fellow educators. The prices are reasonable, and with one exception, the guides have been really great. The accommodations are comfortable, and there are choices of activities that allow every individual on every trip to do as much as possible. Get credit if needed, acquire new knowledge and skills to share with students, learn about other peoples and cultures, and allow yourself to be challenged. GEEO's director will answer any question and is usually able to put someone in touch with a veteran who has taken a trip so that, if there are travel anxieties, these can be alleviated, and you can be prepared to enjoy the experience to the max, and make friends that will last a lifetime.

I took my first GEEO tour this summer and checked off a bucket list item by going to the Galapagos. This was an AMAZING tour that far exceeded my expectations for what it would be like. There was plenty taken away from the program that I can use in my classroom. The CEO was excellent, the accommodations were great, and it was a pleasure meeting teachers from other parts of the country. I recommend this organization to any teacher regardless of content area. I will definitely travel with GEEO again in the future.

This past summer I traveled through Eastern Europe with GEEO and had a fabulous trip. In the past years, I have been on GEEO's India, India and Nepal, Thailand-Vietnam-Laos, Morocco, and Greece trips--each an excellent experience. I have also traveled extensively on my own, but I enjoy the support provided by GEEO, the companionship of like-mined educators, and the affordability of the trips. I will continue to choose GEEO as a travel option because of the mission it fulfills and the personal support which is provided both before and during a trip. I would recommend this GEEO to any educator.

GEEO is an opportunity for educators on all levels to travel AND interact with educators from other countries. Any organization can plan your trip and get you a guide. GEEO does that as well as introduce you to the schools, teachers, and sometimes the students in other cultures (schedule permitting). For example, did you know that there is a Technical University in Tallinn, Estonia that accepts international students... for free course work... in English? And that it is cutting edge due to the patronage of more than a dozen major international sponsors.
Other trips have included visits to elementary schools, a special needs school, a private school, and even a teacher's college. It's interesting to see how others live and how their cultures function. But it's also fun to be able to interact with our counterparts in those countries.

This summer was the 6th trip taken with GEEO. This year it was Vietnam, which is now in my top three of favorite destinations. Traveling with teachers/professors, administrators, former/retired teachers, spouses of same, makes for a much more interesting and stimulating tour than traveling with a bunch of tourists. Getting out of "tourist mode" to visit schools, museums, cultural programs, and local families, provide for an experience that is more than just souvenirs and snapshots.

But just as important as the opportunities to visit and learn so that the experiences can be brought back and shared with your classroom, church group, civic group, or just a dinner with friends, is the knowing that you are supported every step of the way. Not just with trained and experienced tour leaders while in-country, but with GEEO itself at virtually any time of the day or night that a problem or question arises.

Don't know where we're going in 2015, but you can bet we're going somewhere... too much fun not to.

I traveled with GEEO on their Southern African program. It was an amazing experience as I got to see and experience Africa first hand. While preparing for the program, whenever I had a question I could call GEEO and I would get a quick response. I would recommend other teachers to travel with GEEO!

GEEO is a fantastic organization that allowed me to travel and add some professional development hours to my resumé. I had a brilliant time with the experienced tour guides, decent accommodations, and a fantastic group of teachers from all over the US. I am honored to have had the opportunity to learn ao much over the course of my trip to the Peruvian Andes. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an affordable and fun learninng experiencence!

What a fantastic organization to travel with. I've joined them on a trip to Peru and ended up getting sick. Our CEO had a doctor come to the hotel to check on me and then visited me in the hospital several times. When it was time for the group to leave Cusco, he brought someone to meet me and take over for him. Because of the care and concern exhibited, I joined them again on other trips, Morocco and Turkey. All three I would highly recommend!

I attended the Peru trip and this was my first experience traveling with GEEO. Our tour guide, Kiki, gave us just the right mixture of group led activities to places we also might want to go. Very few people think of the possibility of getting really sick when they travel. Kiki not only called a doctor to the hotel he came and saw me in the hospital twice a day. When the group left Cusco, a colleague of Kiki was assigned to assist me. You bet I will travel with GEEO again. Unfortunately, I missed over half the trip, but what I was able to attend was great.

My co-teachers and I have always enjoyed teaching about the civilizations of the middle Americas and South America, so when the opportunity to travel to Peru on Spring Break came up, we were quick to investigate the program. It absolutely met, and exceeded expectations. Being able to learn about Peru's past, through the eyes of Peruvians who clearly love their homeland, was fabulous. The scenery was breathtaking, the food delicious, the ruins magnificent--what more could you ask for! We visited a school (which was heartwarming as well as heartbreaking), visited a weaving co-op, saw salt mines, and of course--Machu Picchu! What a marvel that was--pictures just don't do it justice.
I absolutely would travel with geeo.com again. They contract with g adventures, who does an amazing job. Go--you won't be sorry!

GEEO provided me with an excellent teacher professional development experience in India over Spring Break. Our tour guide and academic representative were knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was planned thoughtfully and provided many unique learning experiences. Participants' needs were met well by the company's office staff and guide. As a non-profit organization, the tour company kept the tour costs kept reasonably low to accommodate teachers' budgets. I have recommended GEEO to my colleagues.
