Efforts are consistent with the mission of Levitt Foundation at bringing to the Westlake community and its environs through the MacArthur Park venue myriad genres of music, art and cultural diversity for young and old. The ambiance and hospitality are exemplify the ongoing effort by community stakeholders at transforming the area into a family and business oriented neighborhood -- open to residents and visitors alike.
50 mini summer concerts at MacArthur Park! Four years and counting. Angelinos unaware of this unique event find it impossible to imagine such a venue. Once you show them the artfully packaged schedule of performances, the public relations atmosphere begins. The usual comments are "hey' I paid $to see this performance at such place or I've wanted to catch this show at the bowl, or can't afford to see this artist when he's in town". Well, we're very grateful to the Friends of the Levitt Pavilion for their commitment to our community, for following their instincts and pursuing this impossible dream in our backyard. Then, there's the icing on the cake. Saturdays show is dedicated to the children. Whether it's Choo Choo Soul or Bob Barkers Marionetts the interactive performances command the imagination and excitement of the children. Thru their inquisitive giggles or explosive laughter, we are invited and surrender into their world. SO, COME ONE COME ALL IT'S THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH! And did I mention it takes place at MacArthur Park.
it has been a wonderful evening each time i attended an event at the park. the families all seem to enjoy it and you see all generations there. the quality of the music has been fantastic!
Your outdoor concerts are amazing and fun! Your choice in artists is great, and what you are able to do for the community is commendable. the people yo have working with you are top notch professionals and what they are able to do on a non-profit budget is outstanding!
Their Levitt Pavilion Summer concert series in MacArthur Park were some of the most unique experiences I have had since I moved to the Greater LA area over a year ago. After my first concert (all ages, from toddlers to Grannies, dancing in the Park), I was hooked and returned for nearly every event in their calendar. The City should uphold these events in the light of community, a visible contribution to what can be done in bringing folks together to enjoy Universal truths like fun and joy.
My experience at the Levitt Pavilion-Macarthur park has been very enjoyable. I've attended this event since summer of '07 and have told many people about how great it is. I really enjoyed the reggae music!!! Also, you may want to check out Momma's Hot Tamales on 7th st.
This is a great non-profit that has FREE Concerts during the summer in Macarthur Park. I have been several times for various shows and have always had a great time. They have concert series that cover pretty much all areas. They have shows for chidren that include a variety of entertainment throughout their series as well.
We played @ the park to an amazing crowd of people from all walks of life!! Everyone from the Levitt Pavilion were so warm and caring it felt like home... We also got a recognition from the city of Los Angeles and made us very proud of this big city... We're looking forward to perform many more times and get encouraged by the people that live in the same city... OUR CITY! Thanks a million Gustavo Bulgach www.klezmerjuice.com
I am a patron of both the MacArthur Park and Pasadena Pavilion, and a fan of both locations and programming. The Levitt Foundation does such an amazing job ensuring that patrons of all ages have a wonderful, entertaining and exciting time while ensuring their needs are met, including and especially, their safety. The Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park is gorgeous, with the immediate surroundings providing great entertainment for the younger kids. If you are in/around Los Angeles during the summer, you cannot miss these amazing cultural events.
Stretching out on the lawn on a summer night listening to music under the stars is an experience I never dreamed enjoying in MacArthur Park. The Friends are miracle workers!
My name is Jennifer A. Gill, and I am the Vice President of the MacArthur Park Neighborhood Council. I have been supportive of the Levitt Pavilion - MacArthur Park since its inception. The Levitt Pavilion has inspired the entire neighborhood...it has brought aesthetics to and has changed the aura of the Park. Families are no long afraid to visit the park during the summer; and people stay until 9:00 or 10:00 PM in the evening listening to the music, dancing and singing. This would not have occurred before the Levitt Pavilion began its performances. Talented musicians from all around the world have a chance to perform in front of a very appreciative audience. The music expands the neighborhood's cultural experience and places the experience on a global level. I cannot begin to explain all of the benefits that the organization brings to the area. It has even inspired Councilmember Reyes and the Mayor of Los Angeles to improve the rest of the park...by providing better lighting, a new soccer field, new play areas for children, and new picnic areas for families. The longer the Levitt Pavilion - MacArthur Park performs here the more improvements will follow. They plan on remaining for another 48 years!!!
Congratulations on another year of providing the Westlake and Pico-Union areas of Los Angeles ambiance, intergenerational exhibitions and multicultural exposure through music -- song and dance. Every year, the audiences are becoming more diverse -- both, multi-ethnically and by age levels. Increasingly, family units are gathering to share and experience varied genres of music and become educated about the artists through instruments and lyrics. It's pleasing to see children listening, not only to the artists but to the adults' sharing either their experiences or explaining what is being seen or heard. This "magic" of the Levitt, together with the park's transformation will continually enhance the neighborhood environment and quality of life for residents and visitors. THANKS FOR CARING/SHARING THE GIFT.
The Levitt Pavilion provides a place in one of the most densely populated areas of Los Angeles where families can experience together first class professional music concerts under the stars for ten weeks each summer free of charge. The caliber of the performers are ones that the majority of this audience would not usually be able to see with a variety of musical genres. The range of musicians that performed ranged from local Los Angeles bands to bands as far away as Europe and Mexico.
