I have a pair of 3 year old hearing aids (new retail value of $6000) that I thought I might donate. These are top of the line, digital, behind-the-ear type with many accessories. I replace my hearing aids about every 3 years. My review of the organizations IRS 990 form (2011) indicate that 67% of gross revenue goes to officer/employee compensation & the vast majority of the remaining revenue goes to office expenses, travel & conferences. The executive director has a lot of explaining (and reorganizing) to do before I give to this organization.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Dismiss the ED. He is over compensated & spends too much traveling to conferences which does little to nothing for those in need of hearing services. A volunteer fund raising committee needs to be established to increase donations & grants by about 500-1000%. With total revenues of $109,000, this organization can do little, if any, good for the deaf/hearing impaired community it claims to serve.
