The ONE Campaign Overview
Programs: The ONE Campaign educates the U.S. public about the need to support smart, effective programs in the U.S. International Affairs budget, including those that combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria; help put more children into school; and help fight hunger. U.S. investments in these programs have helped to leverage additional contributions from other governments around the world and together have delivered real, measurable results, helping to provide millions of Africans with life-saving AIDS medication, cut malaria deaths in half in countries across Africa, and put tens of millions of children in school in poor countries. ONE has nearly two million supporters and a grassroots network that helps to further our education efforts; sharing information about the crisis of extreme poverty and its solutions in their communities, on their campuses, and in their places of worship.
The ONE Campaign’s mission is to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa, by raising public awareness and educating policy makers about the importance of smart and effective policies and programs, such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, which is saving 4,000 lives a day. ONE also works closely with activists and leaders in Africa to address structural issues, such as debt relief, trade investment, and good governance, that are essential for countries to lift themselves out of poverty.
