Location: 1436 U St., NW Suite 400 Washington DC 20009 USA
Programs: Inspired Teaching is rooted in the belief that every student possesses the ability to think critically, learn and understand information, and solve complex problems. Students should spend their time in school engaged primarily in these activities. Since 1996, the thousands of educators who have experienced Inspired Teaching's programs have in turn inspired tens of thousands of students in Washington, DC to learn how to think, not just what to think. Through professional development courses, in-classroom mentoring, and whole school partnerships, our research-based programs challenge teachers to revisit their assumptions, personal philosophies, and beliefs about teaching and how children learn. Teachers describe Inspired Teaching's programs as "life-changing" and value the support of a community of like-minded educators dedicated to improving their instructional practice. The result is improved instructional abilities that allow teachers to teach subject matter in academically rigorous, yet innovative and engaging ways. Teachers learn how to build a positive and productive relationship with each student, in order to motivate all students to reach their full potential.

Center for Inspired Teaching is passionately committed to the DC public schools and has worked with hundreds of teachers. We are now working with the entire DC school system through a partnership that will empower and train DC's social studies teachers in the Common Core Standards as well as create the first ever social studies curriculum written by DCPS teachers.
In Baltimore, Center for Inspired teaching brought the Common Core Standards to middle school math teachers and are working with teacher leaders to help Baltimore transform the pratice of all of its math teachers. The results are already apparent in the classroom and in the enthusiastic endorsement of teachers.
Empowering, mentoring and strengthening teachers and the experience for students is the core of what we do and the results for both teachers and students are mind bending.

Center for Inspired Teaching is a fantastic organization. I'm a student at George Washington University studying Human Services (which is nonprofit management and social work rolled into one), and my experiences interning for Inspired Teaching have brought to life the concepts discussed in my coursework. Inspired Teaching has a wonderful staff dedicated to the organization's mission. Leadership is effective in ensuring that all work is mission-driven and effective. They also have a fantastic in-house research team that constantly evaluates programs and makes sure that programming is positively impacting students and teachers. In addition, Inspired Teaching has a wonderful network of teachers, principals, parents, advocates, and alumni who support the organization's efforts to grow and make its practices the norm in schools. I've had an amazing, informative experience at Inspired Teaching and feel well prepared to transition to life as a nonprofit professional after being part of such an exemplary organization.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the Inspired Teaching Institute. In my two visits during the two week summer session, I saw teachers who began the program hesitant to participate ready and raring to defend what they learned to their colleagues, their principals, and themselves.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
allow Inspired Teaching to expand to other areas! $10 million would allow Center for Inspired Teaching to replicate its model in other cities, states, etc!
