Reviews for Center For A New Generation
I became familiar with this organization in its early years. It started in the 1990s and has continued to develop and grow. CNG provides an outstanding after-school academic & arts enrichment experience for lower income students living in E. Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Redwood City, CA. It allow these students to participate in extra science, math, language and fine arts fun activities and projects after school which helps them in their regular classroom work during the school day. It gives them the opportunity to get the added time and attention that's comparable to what their more affluent peers may experience in costly after-school services so they can compete on a higher level. I like the fact that it's open to any interested student living in these communities (if space is available), but gives those who really want to succeed this additional nurturing and support. I really love this program and the local Boys & Girls Club that provides it.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would find ways to continue to expand it so more children who need it (but whose parents can't afford to pay) can take advantage of this opportunity. I know more students from these communities have graduated from high school and gone on to college successfully because of their involvement in the Center For A New Generation.
