THye are a wonderful organization. They take in dogs too. Also they offer spary and neuter services to ferals where most origanization wont. Their new facility is wonderful. The cats have plenty of room to play. I adopted a great little kitten that they started out bottle feeding. Their volunteers really care.

Not only does Caring For Cats take in cats both feral and otherwise, they take in dogs and whatever/whomever needs a home and does an excellent job of placing them. They work well with other groups and above all have the animals in mind first and foremost. The staff and volunteers are a very dedicated group and really promote spaying and neutering in every fundraiser and event they hold. The Florida Keys has a viral feral population and they need funding for trapping, spaying and neutering and controlling the colonies.

I am both a volunteer & client of this outstanding, vital low-cost spay/neuter, rescue & adoption organization. Through the generous auspices of owner Margie Schwartz, I was able to spay/neuter (& receive medical check-ups for) a colony of over 60 cats where I reside. I would have been unable to accomplish this necessary feat were it not for Caring for Cats in the Upper Keys, Inc. Due to this clinic's existence, I was able to adopt half of these cats into my home & provide continual care for all these cats, inside & outside.

When the only low-cost spay/neuter clinic in the Florida Keys closed its doors nearly a decade ago, Margie Schwartz' devotion to animals & particularly the homeless-cat situation here in the Keys, impelled her to establish Caring for Cats in 2003. Since then, the clinic has provided over 4,000 spay/neuters, over 1,600 adoptions, along with many life-quality/life-saving medical surgeries/treatments.

Without this clinic, the homeless-cat population would be unconscionable. And multitudes of pet owners/caretakers, who otherwise could not afford it, have had access to the excellent medical & compassionate care provided by Caring for Cats in the Upper Keys.

The stellar reputation of Caring for Cats in the Upper Keys & its volunteers, mostly through word-of-mouth, has expanded its outreach to all of the Florida Keys, Dade & even Broward counties.

Margie Schwartz & Caring for Cats in the Upper Keys, Inc., is paws-itively one of the greatest assets in the Florida Keys (& southeast Florida for that matter). With her Caring for Cats organization, Margie Schwartz has made better lives for multitudes of animals & those lucky enough to be pet owners/caretakers!
