Causes: Emergency Assistance, Human Services
Mission: The South Brevard Sharing Center Inc. (SBSC) was founded in 1971 as a non-profit, community based agency whose mission is to support, strengthen and empower families to achieve self-sufficiency in south Brevard County, FL. The South Brevard Sharing Center serves as a centralized and coordinated access point for services for Melbourne, FL area residents that are in poverty struggling to meet basic needs, at risk of homelessness, or experiencing homelessness.
Results: Between January 2016 and December 2017, the Street to Home team has successfully helped over 120 adults and 25 children out of situations of chronic homelessness with ongoing housing support. Our Street to Home coordinated entry team assists approximately 60 unique households monthly with resource connections to programs for long-term support or connections and assistance to be able to resolve their situation on their own through light-touch assistance or their natural support system. Our Basic Needs program sees over 4000 unique households annually for food, hygiene and health items, and other necessities.
