Mission: The purpose of the organization is to disseminate information to the general public as to the endangerment of whales and other species through literature, festivals, fairs and related activities and to support research and educational programs relating to the protection of these species.
Programs: Education program provides outreach and education presentations to school classrooms with the use of hands on materials. Electronic newsletters are emailed once a month to members and subscribers. They contain articles on current environmental issues. Flyers, brochures and educational materials on current topics are provided by mail or email. A website is maintained to provide educational resources to people around the world. We answer emails, telephone calls and mail from people all over the world and from people across the country requesting information and children doing school reports on whales.
Save The Whales is lead by very passionate people that are knowledgeable in all aspects of our oceans and marine life. Its an organization that has the ability to affect action on a worldwide level down to a local level. I've been involved on a local level helping to educate young people about water pollution and how we can all make a difference by education and changing our daily activities. STW has an awesome education program about urban runoff and marine organisms. After classroom presentations and activities, kids go out and stencil stormdrains further educating the community about urban runoff.
