I have recently visited the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue. I have yet to visit a ranch so well maintained and setup strictly for the care and wellbeing of Donkeys. I was amazed on how kind the people are and could tell the LOVE they have for these animals. It's one thing to call yourself a rescue but another to be able to care for each individual animal and their needs. It is easy to see how happy these animals are to here from the oldest to the new arrivals. I lucky enough to witnessed Donkey, new to the ranch, being delivered. Normally a trailer ride can be very scary for an animal, they're first time. These Donkeys were treated with total kindness. Leading each one out carefully and not stressing them out. To be able to build an animal rescue this size must be a HUGE task. I have nothing but respect for Mark and Amy to be able to build something so fantastic from the facility to the people. There is constant hard work not only to treat, train and find good homes for the donkeys but to find them both wild and domestically abused. They make me feel so good knowing they will leave no DONKEY behind. The hardest thing about the visit was leaving. Thanks Mark, Amy and your team for the kindness in your heart and the hard work.
Too bad there is not a negative option.
I have had an experience of this "Rescue" and their "Lost Medow Mule Refuge ", which is on on same property and gets donations through both "rescues", and some of the staff members that chose to use their position to their own benefit to acquire animals. More especially when they go against their own policy's and rescue other animals and not just mules or donkeys.
When Mark and Amy first started they were very honest people when it came to the background of the animals.. but now when the background of animals are posted they are not 100% honest, and when I emailed them, they do not respond. Yes, I am sure that some of the animals have rough backgrounds.. but to deliberately lie about an animals background just to get funding is wrong. And the people that assume they are telling the truth and donate to an organization that has to lie to get donations are blinded by what is actually going on.
Also, if you are going to take another person's animals then get the facts first.
I can only hope that whoever decides to donate to a "RESCUE" that has gone against their rules and goals thinks twice about it... especially when their rules and regulations are stated on their website.
I hope Mark and Amy see what is going on at their rescue that was once built on honesty and actually caring for nothing but the donkeys and mules they rescued. And they can get back to basics before their current staff runs it into the ground with their lies and deceitfulness.

This person has the choice of surrendering two malnourished horses to Lost Meadows or face felony animal cruelty charges. She surrendered the horses and then decided to give PVDR a poor review even though we were not involved in the rescue case.
