Boomer, our golden retriever, and I have been volunteering as a pet therapy team through the Dog Alliance for over 5 years, sharing a passion for giving back to our community. After trying various volunteer roles—from building homes to helping at animal shelters—nothing has matched the joy and connection I’ve found in pet therapy with Boomer. His calm demeanor and love for people made him a natural fit for this line of work.Together, we visit schools, business conventions, hospitals, Dell Children’s Hospital, and nursing homes, where Boomer’s gentle presence brings comfort, relief, and smiles to people facing challenges. The impact he has is undeniable; I’ve seen stress melt away as people pet him, their spirits lifted even if just for a moment. For us, volunteering through pet therapy isn’t just about giving time—it’s about creating joy and hope, one visit at a time. This journey has been the most rewarding experience of my life, and Boomer’s too.The Dog Alliance has given us this opportunity to work as a pet therapy team and give back to our community.
