Mission: Plaza Jewish Community Chapel is a not for profit corporation governed by an unpaid Board of Directors that includes rabbis from all of the major denominations, representatives of Jewish social service agencies, individuals who serve as lay leaders in synagogues and Jewish communal organizations. Our mission is to ensure that every member of the Jewish community receives a dignified and respectful Jewish funeral; to lower the high cost of funerals by eliminating the profit motive and commercialism so often associated with the funeral industry; and to provide appropriate connections to Jewish communal resources that the bereaved may need to cope with emotional or practical problems.
Target demographics: Jewish community members and families who need to plan or implement final arrangements with care and dignity

Geographic areas served: the New York City metropolitan area, and burials throughout U.S. and abroad
Programs: Plaza Jewish provides funeral services in accordance with Jewish law and tradition to persons of the Jewish community. Plaza Jewish is a leader in remaking the funeral home into a community resource, with its innovative community service and educational programs created with other community organizations. Plaza also provides grants and sponsorship to other programs that educate the community about end of life and funeral planning. When wanted and needed, Plaza makes referrals for counseling and other social services.
