I would give them 6 stars if it was possible. What the staff and volunteers are able to do for so many different species of wildlife is beyond amazing. Add their education programs directly to the public as well as their social media is just as inspirational. They don’t
Mission: Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife back into the wild where they belong and to educate the public about wildlife and how to peacefully co-exist.
In late 2021, we also started a new division of PAWS to address domestic rabbits in crisis situations, called Wayward Rabbits.
Results: We moved to our current location in 2003 and have added new enclosures and pens each year. In 2011, we added a flight pen for the raptors. In 2018, we added a barn building. In 2023, we added another raptor building bringing our total raptor units up to 25 different outdoor raptor enclosures.
Over the years we have expanded to the point that now, we hold more state and federal permits involving wildlife than any other facility in the state.
Our next big project is to set up a medical unit on-site that will house an xray machine, surgical suite, and related equipment so we can have on-site vet care provided by licensed professionals.
Target demographics: wildlife in need of help, and domestic rabbits in crisis (via our Wayward Rabbits division of PAWS)
Geographic areas served: South Carolina
Programs: We take in approximately 800- 1,000 animals annually in over 30 different species coming from up to 28 different counties. Many of these animals had no other options
I would give them 6 stars if it was possible. What the staff and volunteers are able to do for so many different species of wildlife is beyond amazing. Add their education programs directly to the public as well as their social media is just as inspirational. They don’t just go in day say “bad people, hurt animals”. They explain how often well meaning people cause unintended harm, educate the public in how to live harmoniously with local wildlife and share the entire process from intake to rehab to release. We become vested, it feels personal even if you are thousands of miles away. In summary, it is a stellar non profit!!
