Great organizations and products usually have one thing in common. They compel you to smack yourself on the forehead to say, "Why didn't we think of this sooner?" Modest Needs is a simple concept, so simple that it's brilliant. People helping people with monetary donations as small as pennies. The overarching mission of this organization is promoting a culture of unselfishness, one in which we demonstrate empathy for each other. That message has never been more important than now during this country's troubled economic climate. If you have a couple dollars to spare and 15 minutes to spare, you can make a difference in someone's life.
I have been a recipent of ModestNeeds and they have been a Blessing from Heavan helping me out. I was a severe heart paitient and needed a bathtub as mine had been vandualized and they replaced it so I would not have to stand and wash in my kitchen sink anymore. One donor helped me get a Army Parka coat so I could walk to get my perscriptions some twelve miles away. They have coated my roof as well which has stopped my floors from rottening out as well. This has been my favorite Charity because it has a heart and cares and gives to help fight Poverty and so many people whom are suffering through no faults of thier own. I give every month to this Charity , not because they helped me but because of the kindness and help that was there for me . I live on so low of an income and there was no help anywhere else and someone told me anout ModestNeeds several years ago and they have grown as I have watched and continue to send them my little one dollar bill a month. s long as I live I will donate to this Charity that works with small change to help so many people. I am a Donator , Volunteer Spokesperson and also a client for this worthy Charity Foundation.
This is my favourite charity, bar none. It is of great comfort that Modest Needs has an excellent vetting process and we can choose our own recipients. This year for Christmas, we got my Mother-in-Law a Gift Certificate for Modest Needs. She had never heard of them before but 'spent' her gift as soon as she opened it. Not only did it give us great joy to give it to her, but she absolutely loved it! And now, one more person knows about this wonderful organization. I hope others will also get the word out via this method. If you're thinking about donating, donate it to someone else for their gifting. Share the love and spread the word.
As a regular contributor to Modest Needs, I am very impressed with their mission. By allowing the donors to determine how they would like the donation applied-and by applying 100% of the funds received to the people in need-Modest Needs is unlike ay other charity I contribute to. The core belief that small donations can make a big difference is proven on a day-to-day basis. The small donations fund unexpected expenses that could cause another person/family to fall into the poverty cycle. I have also been consistently impressed with the staff at Modest Needs, and their work in determining eligibility.
Modest Needs is the one charity to which I faithfully donate. Their staff has repeatedly proven their trustworthiness in allocating funds and their dedication to performing charitable work in a manner that is both business-like and compassionate. When I give to Modest Needs I know *exactly* where 100% of my donation is being dedicated. In fact, I have the ability to select individual applications to which my money is allocated and I frequently receive matching monies to allocate through the generosity of larger foundations. These are powerful factors that cause me to avoid giving to other charities. Even if my donation is a mere $5.00, I know that it truly makes a difference.
I've been involved with many good causes, but this is the best. It goes right to the heart of poverty....how one single event (a hospital bill, a layoff, a sick child)can start a downward spiral for a family without the resources to meet that single need. This organization is about the mammoth impact of individuals coming together with spare change, a few dollars or even a single dollar.
