i have been homeless on numerous occasions, however did not qualify in some centers due to not having an addiction problem , overpopulation, or because I do not have children. I feel as though I am BLESSED , giving the fact that I was recognized as an individual and not because of my circumstance or treated like a number. At times I found it difficult, and tried staying with friends who claimed i could stay a specific amount of time however changed their story at a later date after promising me a permanent living situation. i like the mission program because because i am not judged on my nationality, religious preference, as I am a CHURCH goer and have a choice of churches , regarding my decision which are on the bus line or in walking distance.i have found that this particular program has assistance,or different programs for woman and children alike, even ones to fit my individual needs. i am thankful to have a place to reside until I regain appropriate housing. thank you

I became homeless due to landlord issues and had no where to go. I was on the county bus and a gentlemen told me about The Mission in Citrus homeless shelter. I called and spoke with Jim and asked if he would allow me to bring my dog with me and he said we will give it a try. My dog and i now have been here for a little over 3 months. Mr jiggles is now the mascot for the shelter. If it wasn't for the shelter and Jim allowing me to have Mr.Jingles with me i would be in the woods but gratefully he has allowed us to be together. Since arriving i have been searching for property and housing to hopefully one day own of my own. My experience here at the shelter has helped me gain confidence and a family of brothers and sisters. I am able to save money to put towards my future home. Since I have met Jim, Delva, and others that help with the shelter I have been able to gain more confidence in other people. I am very grateful and honored to have Jim as a friend for he is a great human being who has a heart for others.

The mission in citrus is a very nice and maintained place to stay, before I came here I was in the ocala national forest with 3 small children in a tent. I am very blessed my family was brought into a place that will help you in every way they can. Yes there may be rules but that is how things run smoothly and everyone helps each and everyone out. I originally had barely any clothes nor did my kids and husband we now have quite a bit. The kids have everything they need and always get a hot shower/bath.
I fell into hard times and a friend of mine told me about The Mission in citrus. I contacted them and within 24 hours they made room for me at The Veterans Shelter. Since the day I have arrived here I have been treated as family. Then I took another hard hit when my wife and 2 boys ended up homeless. I spoke with Jim and he arranged for my family to move in as well. The shelter and residents have welcome my family and I with open arms. Jim and his staff strives extremely hard to help everyone possible.
