Causes: Food, Food Programs
Mission: The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) addresses the issues of hunger and homelessness on Long Island by providing food, shelter, long-term housing, and supportive services in a dignified and respectful manner for those who seek our help. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization with a dedicated staff, a broad base of community support and a commitment to educate the public about these issues.

Geographic areas served: Long Island
Programs: The inn's shelter program provides temporary safe housing for families and individuals that are homeless. The program is accompanied by a range of supportive services including case management and advocacy services to assist the guests with navigating the social service system (public assistance, food stamps, medicaid) and services provided by other community based organizations. Case management services also include assistance in removing barriers to permanent housing. In addition, the shelter program provides a housing specialist and a licensed real estate agent, to assist in securing appropriate and affordable housing. The inn also provides crisis housing for individuals of families that are ineligible for housing through social services.
the inn's soup kitchens program provides walk-in guests with a prepared hot nutritional meal. In addition, some locations are able to assist with housing and employment searches, meet basic needs such as non-perishable food, clothing and household necessities, psychological needs such as motivation, self esteem and rehabilitation, and social needs such as support systems and meaningful relationships.
the inn's long-term housing program provides safe, affordable housing accompanied by a full range of supportive services to 25 formerly homeless families throughout long island. Families are provided with intensive and comprehensive case management and education services to assist them in reaching goals of self-sufficiency and independence. In addition, seven veterans who have completed substance-abuse rehabilitation programs are provided with supportive services in a single room occupancy setting as they work toward self-sufficiency and maintaining their recovery.
