This amazing rescue has had a terrible 2013 with the unfortunate outbreak of distemper. Through devastating losses of beloved cats they have kept their hopes and spirits high and have nursed many back to health. They have taken in new cats and are working on finishing a new enclosure. They post daily on Facebook and let those of us who cannot visit often know how our feline friends are doing and show us the great strides they are taking to make sure these cats are happy, healthy are always wonderfully cared for. The people who watch over these precious animals truly love them and have the utmost respect for them.
I absolutely love Insync Exotics!!! The cats are their concern and they only do what is best for them. The enrichment exercises are thoughtful - the cats love them and we love to watch them. It is amazing to see the cats that come here and how much they have changed since making Insync Exotics their home. The best rescue organization I have ever seen!!
We bring our kids (6 & 3) here often. It is a wonderful place with wonderful volunteers that provides a great learning experience to our children. The really love these animals and do everything possible for them. Our son cannot wait to volunteer when he gets older!
i became a volunteer in January 2012. This place has truly changed the lives of many cats that had been neglected. In-Sync doesn't see those beautiful animals as cats. They are family! I have given many tours and i always ask the visitor to look at before and after pictures we have. All of the visitors always have the same response. That being that they can't believe the difference that ISE makes. I have witnessed many leaving with tears in their eyes and the gratitude in their hearts for people like ISE that take the time out of their lives to help these beautiful family members (cats). It is the most heart warming, fulfilling feeling ever. Love + In-Sync Exotics = Healthy, Happy Cats! Chuffs to you all!
In-Sync Exotics not only changes the lives of the big cats that have come to call this place home, it also changes the lives of the volunteers. In most cases, In-Sync has rescued these big cats from horrific conditions and situations, and having the opportunity as a volunteer to help make a difference in their lives is priceless. The health, happiness, and safety of these amazing animals is put above all else, and the exceptional care that is given to each and every cat is heart warming.
In-Sync Exotics is an amazing organization doing extraordinary work. They are not only dedicated to saving the lives of neglected and abused exotic felines, but they are also focused on educating the public. Each and every cat is given a safe home and endless amounts of love! Vicky and the rest of the board members and volunteers have truly opened their hearts to provide the best for these magnificent and beautiful animals.
Went to visit In-Sync with my daughter and 2 small grand kiddo's almost 2 years ago - Let's just say they had me from day one. In-Sync is an incredible magical place, it is a place of love and care, the animals here are top priority and their needs will be met whether it be nourishment, enrichment or medical they receive all that is needed to continue a protected and happy life. This is what In-Sync and their founder Vicki is all about, providing a special haven for those that were at the end of their road for hope or home, there are not many options available to what is considered your not so average adoptable creature - Vicki, staff, volunteer's, contributors and visitors make this all possible. I've always been a big cat fan, even since childhood, big cat pajama's, big cat art, nicnaks, and this and that, etc, etc. The most wonderful feeling after a day of volunteering for these big beautiful cats is, WOW, this is one of the most awesome opportunities in my entire lifetime - Those big cats sure do make my day, they are like sunshine - they are the most awesome furry friends to ever to be blessed with.
I heard about In-Sync about a year and half ago and finally got to go there back in June with my daughter and two small grand kids. It was amazing, the grand kids are ages 1 and 4, they were captivated and in awe of everything around them at In-Sync, their attention was focused on the beauty of all the cats and the four year old had question after question. He latched on to a volunteer, I don't think she got a moments peace with all he wanted to know but she took the time and patience to answer all of his inquiries and if she didn't know, she'd find out. He still asks me about the cats when I see him, he hasn't forgotten about them or the lady.
I signed up to volunteer at In-Sync and loving every minute of it. The staff and volunteer's truly hold the well being of all that come to live in sanctuary here. So many of the residents had horrible lives and were neglected, abused and starved before their journey brought them to In-Sync. Some of them never had an opportunity to see daylight or have the opportunity to lay in the grass and just be a carefree feline. So happy to say they have it all now and its all because of In-Sync and all of its devoted staff.
If I lived closer, I'd be volunteering more than 1 to 2 days a week. The place brings such happiness while out there, I'm loving it! It would be great if there were more laws prohibiting people from having these large and exotic animals including side shows/circus's, breeders (same as puppy mills), But until then I'm so thankful for the blessings of In-Sync, they turn the cats lives around and give them a new and happy beginning. This place Rocks and Rawrrrr's ;x
I selected Donor because although I'm the spouse of one of the volunteers, I have only personally donated funds and supplies that were needed over the past few years.
My donations may seem small in scale, but I know that they very much impact the facility and the volunteers that use them in a large positive manner. I know this because whatever that supply item is, that's one less item that someone may need to spend the time and funds to go purchase. I've personally seen how one little thing can make a difference there and even more so, how much of an impact numerous small donations or larger donations benefit not only In-Sync, but also the wonderful animals that call it home. Every donation makes a difference and I wholly support and recommend donating whatever you can to In-Sync Exotics so that the beautiful creatures can continue to live good lives there through the efforts of the supporters and volunteers.
This is by far the best volunteer opportunity I've had here in the Dallas area. I have always loved big cats and being able to care for them is beyond my wildest dreams! What Vicki, owner, and the rest of the volunteers do is simply inspiring. They are very compassionate, loving and caring towards these magnificent animals. I will be volunteering on a regular basis to help with this great cause!
I have been a volunteer with In-Sync Exotics since 2011 and its been an incredible experience that I will never forget. I volunteer most Saturdays and spend my whole week looking forward to my day spent with the cats. I usually work with our tigers and servals and have developed a love for them that I could have never imagined. They truly mean the world to me. As any of the volunteers up there would tell you, there is no better joy than having a cat be happy to see you. Chuffs from the tigers, moans from the lions and even a hiss from a certain serval (fellow volunteers, you know who I mean) are the best sounds in the world and a day at In-Sync is not complete without them. I don't think I have ever seen a volunteer (or visitor) leave without a smile on their face.
I began volunteering at In-Sync Exotics in October 2011 and I have never seen so much dedication and love for animals as I have in my time there. Everything they do is for the cats. Rain, shine, ice or snow the dedicated staff and volunteers are out there making sure the cats and other animals have everything thing they need from a "fluffed" cozy den to enrichment to keep them busy throughout the day. The animals that come to In-Sync, for the most part, have undergone hardships and devastation like you would not believe but it is the tireless effort of the volunteers and staff that have turned so many tragedies into "happily ever afters". I encourage you to go to the website: www.insyncexotics.org and read some of the background of the cats that call In-Sync home and be sure to have a box of tissues handy because you will surely need it. I will never forget the first time one of the cats actually recognized me out of a group of people. I was visiting the refuge with my family and one of the lionesses I had worked with the week before was in the playground area. I called out to her not expecting a reaction really but to my surprise, she stopped what she was doing, walked over to the fence and stared right into my eyes and started rubbing on the fence and moaning like she was so happy to see me. There are no words that can describe what an incredible feeling it was to have a big cat walk across an enclosure just to say hello to me. I have never felt more at home and accepted as I do there because we all have a common goal, protecting and caring for our beloved animals. You are truly missing out on a treasure if you do not visit the amazing animals that call In-Sync Exotics home.
Insync exotics has been such a great place to volunteer. The compassion and service that everyone does is amazing. Being able to be there has greatly impacted my life. For me it's a place to come out and leave the hectic world behind. Getting to help these magnificent cats live a good life is so rewarding. Even though I wish that sanctuaries didn't have to exist. I'm thankful that these cats have found their forever home. A home filled full of people wanting to cater to them. I am also very honored for every week I see my name on the schedule. I've done a lot of volunteering and this by far is the best place.
Our daughter found In-Sync not to long after she relocated to Texas, and of course her Father and I had our reservations about her becoming a volunteer there. But even after our first visit to this magical habitat, we were able to breathe much easier due to the fact that we were able to see for ourselves how strictly Vicki's safety measures were enforced- without deviation, and that the volunteers are REQUIRED to act accordingly. No fuzzy instruction here! Vicki's concern for her volunteers's only rival that of her concern and passion for her children, her big kitties- as we so lovingly refer to them as.
Now a year or so down the road, we look forward to seeing our 'other' children almost (wink-wink) as much as we do our daughter when we come to town to visit! It is truly an awe inspiring time! If you are anywhere near this amazing facility, we whole heartily encourage you drop by and say hello! Having a rotten day, week? I guarantee, after a stroll through the amazing grounds and a few heart to hearts with some of their more than willing to listen residents, your outlook will be changed for the better! But,
CAUTION! This magical habitat is highly addictive! You may find yourself looking for our leader, Vicki and inquiring about how YOU can become one of the highly esteemed volunteers that have found that inner peace that only comes with the satisfaction of knowing that YOU are doing your part to help care for these now oh-so-lucky-cats who have found such a wonderful, loving home at In-Sync! And like our daughter, you too will be heard saying, "I've found my happy place!"
In-Sync Exotics has changed my life. I have been a volunteer there now for a year and a half and I treasure the time I spend there each week. I started because I love animals, cats especially, and I wanted to serve and learn more about wild cats. Mostly I help clean cat enclosures and what little I contribute, when you consider the magnitude of what it takes to run this facility, has been returned to me in the form of deep joy and lasting love. Though the sanctuary is for the resident cats, Katie the dog and our beloved Nugget who is no longer with us, it is a place where we humans can find refuge and healing too. I can honestly say my life is better because of In-Sync and I have no intentions of ever leaving!
I love In-Sync so much I decided to volunteer thee on a regular basis. The facility and people who care for the animals love what they do and put the animals first always. The care goes above and beyond what is required and it is obvious when you are there the passion everyone has for this animals and all animals. It is a wonderful place and I have experienced such joy from being a part of the volunteer team.
In-Sync is an experience of the heart. These exotic animals will walk into your heart and become part of your soul. You cannot ignore them, their eyes tell you stories that cannot be written, but felt. They are unwilling victims of humanity's need for control and power. Vicki and In-Sync give these animals a last chance to live in a truly caring environment. They will experience human love many times for the first time in their lives . . . . This group is truly dedicated and will move mountains to care for these amazing creatures, 24/7/365 days a year!! ! I am a prior Board member from many years ago . . .
I first came to In-Sync over 10 years ago. I Found out about it by word of mouth. Could not believe the passion Vicky has for these cats. And sadly the stories of each and every cat that was at that facility at that time. I came to realize the word Man-kind was an oxymoran. Most of those at the facility at that time and since would be dead if it were not for her rescue efforts She literally lives, eats and sleeps (with one ear on a baby type monitors in the cage area ) cats. She did not have a large volunteer base then but as the facility grew the volunteers came as word of mouth and the internet presence grew. These volunteers share the passion and they see it in Vicky. All rescue facilities have merit, but this one has the heart of gold stolen from it's founder.
In-Sync has survived because Vicky would not say no to the cats,
she has fought long and hard for it's existence. Bless her and her troups of volunteers, donors and supporters.
I started volunteering this year, but In-Sync Exotics has already made a huge difference in my life. I don't have any children and was looking for something meaningful to fill my spare time. I didn't realize how I would be drawn to the center and the cats. It's hard to leave at the end of my shift and my mind often goes there while I'm at work. Just getting a chuff hello from one of the tigers makes my day. I go home with aches and pains from the hard work keeping these beautiful cats happy, but my heart is lifted and spirit light.
We drove 3 1/2 hours to visit the sanctuary as a birthday gift for our 8 year old daughter. We were a little nervous about coming this far for an animal sanctuary, not sure what exactly we'd find, but we were very happy we made the trip. The animals were clean and obviously well cared for, and the volunteers took the time to talk to the kids about what it is like to care for big cats. Sarah already had planned to be a wildlife biologist when she grows up. She's since amended her plans to include working for or running her own tiger sanctuary.
For the first time on Saturday, March 30, 2013 my family visited and attended the Easter Festivities. My kids were beyond thrilled by all of the animals they we able to see up close. Two of my daughters decided for their birthdays they would adopt two of the big cats. In Sync takes exceptional care of their rescues. The enclosures are clean, nice size, there is enrichment for their mental health, they are well fed, clean and very comfortable in their environment. I was actually surprised after all they have been through that they all seem happy as clams now that they have found salvation with the care of In Sync. It is an amazing place for big cats that can not be placed into the wild. We will continue to support the sanctuary and tell everyone we can to visit as often as they can... this was the best Easter, we will come back often!!! Thank you to all of the volunteers that work endlessly to provide these beautiful animals the best life they can have in captivity.
I found out about In-Sync back in February this year and surprised my mom and daughter with a visit, and we have been back multiple times since then. We absolutely love this place!! The staff is always very helpful and friendly and the animals are very well cared for. The love and care that they are given is apparent in so many ways. Their homes and habitats are always clean and constantly being attended to. The staff takes every percaution to remain safe at all times and take the same percautions with the visitors and the cats. I can't think them enough for sharing this amazing sanctuary with us!
In-Sync Exotics is a great place to spend your time! Whether you're a visitor or a volunteer, you're guaranteed to have a great time, learn a lot, and help a great cause!
My husband to0k me to In-Sync for a birthday surprise. I was truly amazed at how much love and care these animals are given. We went to a night feeding and it was just an amazing experience, I just wished it was on the other side of the metro-plex so I could visit often.
I started volunteering at In-sync after I graduated from college with my BS in Wildlife Biology. I have always had a special place in my heart for large exotic cats and I wanted to experience what daily husbandry was like taking care of these extraordinary animals. I immediately fell in love with everything In-Sync was about. Vicky has built a wonderful facility and has an exceptional team of staff, interns, and volunteers to help make In-Sync a forever loving home for a variety of exotic felines that didn't have the best start to their lives. In-sync inspired me to follow my dreams to a lifelong career in the conservation of large exotic carnivores. I'm not sure where I'd be or what I'd be doing without the inspiration and guidance In-sync provided me with and I am forever thankful to have had the oportunity to be a part of the family they have built.
While I have never been able to visit, I have seen your work online, and watch it with admiration and astonishment. I keep up with your events and your animals and am very glad to know you have them and they have you in their lives. Thank you for all you do. I love seeing how much you do for the animals in your care.
My kids and I visited In-Sync Exocits a few months ago and they LOVED it. Being close to the cats, watching them play and how well taken care of they are is impressive. I never knew how big these cats were until I was THAT close.... The staff was so involved, caring and friendly...We can not wait to go back!!
I become more and more impressed with In-Sync Exotics every year. It is obvious that Vicky, her family, and the staff of volunteers have the well-being of the animals above all else. Just watching how happy the animals are and how different from a zoo environment; they are playful, and interact with the workers instead of just pacing in their enclosures. I love the provisions made by InSync, such as enrichment "toys" and a pool in each play area; the huge tubs the cats not only drink from, but get into and play. I have visited a number of times and have NEVER seen any of the staff being unkind to the animals, in fact just the opposite. They show love and care 100% of the time. I donate to InSync as often as I can because I feel they are one of the most worthwhile non-profit organizations I have ever known.
I have been a volunteer for over a year now and absolutely LOVE the oragnization. In-Sync Exotics has the most caring volunteers and the cats will win your heart over for sure. This is the best place ever to regain your sanity after a long work week or horrible day of stress. I find much peace in In-Sync Exotics and am very honored to be a small part of such a wonderful team.
I've brought my parents all the way from Michigan to this sanctuary for a private tour because of the wonderful care and attention this big cats get from the staff. The world of knowledge the staff has of each cat is so impressive. They have expanded to include Cheetahs. They have done the first surgery of it's kind on one of the tigers. In-sync has a great deal of press coverage on all the wonderful things they do for these majestic animals.
Went out with my parents to visit Insync on Good Friday. Insync set up a special time for me and my parents as their visit was a short one before going back to MI after Easter. My folks seemed very impressed and learned a lot about the big cats and the reasons they ended up at the sanctuary. Tour guide was very nice and very knowledgable. You could tell she really cared about all the cats and even teared up when talking about the cats that had passed away. I'm was so impressed with this group, they are on my donor list for funds and will remain there.
I was very fortunate to be able to accompany a friend on the night feeding tour! Being a cat person I of course wanted to walk up to each cage and pet the "kitties" but I was able to restrain myself. The staff was knowledgable and I learned a great deal about a variery of cats, large and small. Seeing these awesome creatures in a more natural setting than a zoo was incredible and inspiring. My favorite experience was being in the center of the compound when all the cats roared at the same time! They are all so beautiful and so obviously well cared for and loved. I hope to go back again soon! Neva D
A friend and I took the night-time "Feeding Tour" in September 2012. What an incredible experience! We spent 3 hours with the staff and volunteers, observing from a few feet away while the big (and small) cats enjoyed their dinner. We learned a lot about the cats' background, care, and habits (most useful tip: step to the side, not back, when the cat sprays!). Some of the tigers and lions had to be hand-fed through the fence -- the big babies. Hearing the cacophany of roars in the "Surround sound" area was truly amazing. My friend, whose husband was concerned about her safety on the tour, sent him a fabulous video of the "talking" cats, assuring him that she was safe. I have been on photo safari in Africa, seeing lions and leopards in the wild, and the In Sync experience was just as special and impactful. I was impressed that the animals were so well-cared-for and loved. The staff and volunteers were knowledgeable, dedicated, and friendly. I highly recommend the feeding tour or any of the other tours. Love the photos and blog posts on the FB page, too!
I absolutely love In-Sync Exotics, and visit on a regular basis. I follow their Facebook page (and their blog postings), which is a great way of keeping up to date with all of the activities that they have going on, and a great way to learn more about each of the cat's that call In-Sync home. I support In-Sync!
I have visited In-Sync Exotics, Inc. on numerous occasions. The cats are extremely well cared for, and the volunteers were very helpful, friendly, and were full of knowledge about each of the cats. I have donated to this organization several times, and it feels great knowing that every dollar that is donated is going towards the care of these cats. In-Sync is a WONDERFUL organization!
It breaks my heart that some people think exotic cats make appropriate house pets, with no regard for the well-being of the animal. Thank goodness for In-Sync Exotics! They have provided healthy, happy lives for many rescued cats. Some were rescued to late and their health was too compromised for them to live very much longer after rescue but at least they knew joy, comfort and love at the end.
I first became aware of In-Sync Exotics when they made the news rescuing the so-called Leona Six. I've visited the website many times since then and am absolutely in awe of the dedication of the volunteers involved. In a world where it seems like there is too much to be done, too many who need our help, it warms my heart every day when I visit the In-Sync website and see the now-healthy cats who were suffering so much before rescue. it reminds me of the story of the starfish...we can't help everyone but at least these few are now living safe, comfortable, love-filled lives.
I visited InSync after hearing there was an exotic cat rescue only a few miles from my home. I've done (pet) cat rescue in the past, and so I tend to be highly critical of conditions that animals are kept in. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The animals were healthy, happy, calm, well-adjusted and CLEARLY adored. The caregivers are completely devoted to the physical, mental and emotional well-being of their charges and it shows, not only in the appearance of the animals, but also their behaviour. Several times I'd walk past animals (a lion, a tiger and a cougar, in that order) and upon seeing me, the animal would roll over onto his/her back, which is a sign of EXTREME trust in a cat, never mind an exotic one! The enclosures are clean, sturdy, well-maintained and well-stocked, the playgrounds have appropriate toys, gorgeous pools, well-maintained grass and wood for the cats to scratch and stretch. Even more telling are a lot of their before and after stories; some of the animals were neglected, mistreated, malnourished or even tortured, and those same animals are now healthy, happy, calm and confident. Being in a place where people look after your every need will do that to even the most cynical apex predator!
After over a year of volunteering, my belief in In-Sync Exotic's mission is even deeper than when I first walked in, when I was not exactly sure of what I would find. What I found took my breath and my heart away. The commitment and dedication of the staff, board and volunteers is world class. Any animal, no matter what condition they are in when they become a resident, is truly respected as an individual and given top notch treatment. It is sad that there is a need for such sanctuaries, but until the time when this changes, it is my wish that all sanctuaries would be run this well. With more resources, they could help a greater number of big cats in need. My involvement has expanded as my schedule allows and I look forward to the time spent helping this much deserving organization.
Six months of volunteering at In-Sync has deepened my faith in humanity. So many of the Big Cats that reside at the sanctuary started their lives in very dire circumstances, mistreated by their human owners. Some of them suffered years and years of abuse and neglect. But let the dedicated volunteers and staff at In-Sync take over, and the transformations are astounding! My heartfelt wish is that everyone reading this should go visit, and see this special place on earth with their very own eyes. Time after time, a cat that was given up on not only survives but thrives under the care of the amazing folk at In-Sync. It is truly remarkable. I continue to volunteer one day a week, giving what I can of my time and energy for the tasks at hand. I go home tired, but filled to the brim with hope and renewed faith in humankind.
This past summer, I served as an intern for In Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center. Those 12 weeks absolutely changed my life. Every volunteer and worker at In Sync gives their all every day because they love the cats. The cats, who have all been rescued from abusive conditions, grow to live happy, healthy, stimulating lives at In Sync. This sanctuary does critically important work rehabilitating cats and showing them that humans can be trustworthy and loving, and that the cats don't have to be afraid for the rest of their lives. Any cat that comes to In Sync is there to stay - they cannot be released to the wild, and they will never be passed off to another organization. I cannot imagine a more committed, well-deserving non-profit. Vicky Keahey takes on cats that most other organizations would decline, due to health conditions. Vicky works tirelessly to ensure that every cat is given a chance at living a happy life. The cats are regularly provided with enrichment to stimulate them mentally, whether it be scents, a new toy, or just a change in their environment. I will never forget the day that I provided a bag containing coffee grounds to one of our male lions, and he hugged it to his chest and rolled around on his back, so excited to have it. I couldn't have imagined a more fulfilling way to spend my summer, and I cannot fathom a more deserving charity. The work done by In Sync can easily be overlooked, but it is of critical importance, and they do the job well.
I made my first visit to In-Sync Exotics in 2011 since I had heard about their great work, and was considering donating the proceeds of our annual charity bake sale to them. I wanted to see the facility and the cats with my own eyes before I made a decision. My friends and I were blown away by the love and care that In-Sync provides to these wild cats who have been abused or neglected. We were able to raise over $8000 for In-Sync from our one-day bake sale, and will donate this year's proceeds as well. That's how much we love this place, these cats, and these people. We will be life-long supporters of In-Sync and are happy to endorse them as a superior charity worthy of our trust!
This is by far the best kept secret of the Dallas-Fort Worth Area and that's a shame. Vicki and her staff are the most caring and loving folks and the cats (and Nugget) are well cared for and you can tell they love their keepers. The sanctuary is always clean and well kept, volunteers are always around to answer questions. My only complaint is that it is over and hour away from my house.. otherwise I would be there all the time!!! Truly a great place for kids of all ages to get up close and personal with the cats without danger, my boys both love the place.
In-Sync Exotics is a truly amazing place. Vicky Keahey took in an abandoned cougar.....then, another, then, a tiny tiger. This led to the vision of saving more big cats from abuse, neglect and certain death. There are not a lot of people out there who "think" about doing something like this and then, actually follow through; Vicky followed through. The organization relies on donations and volunteers in order to keep it going and the cats cared for. I have volunteered there for about six months and in getting to know other volunteers, we all agree that this place is not only a sanctuary for rescued big cats, it is a sanctuary for those who spend time there. I know my volunteering makes somewhat of a difference......but not near the difference In-Sync has made in my life. I have met truly generous people whose passion is to provide the best possible environment for these beautiful creatures. I have looked into the eyes of cats who have known pain and torment, but are now in a forever home where it is "all about them." In-Sync Exotics IS my happy place!!
I volunteered for about 2 years at InSync. I was always proud of the wonderful work I was a part of. I have seen cats in horrible conditions come to Insync and be loved into health and happiness. They're work is invaluable, these cats are treated like gold. I also know first hand that all donations go directly to taking care of the cats. This place is a god send for these cats. I wish all exotic cats (in captivity) could live at InSync.
At Insync ALL the money from donations is spent on the cats. Some sanctuaries may be prettier but that means they are spending their money on landscaping and not on the cats. Many of the cats have lived in deplorable conditions. Insync provides food, clean water and medicine to heal their body. Vicky has saved cats that no one thought would live.
Insync provides large (better than required by law) enclosures, playgrounds and pools with waterfalls for the tigers. Who love water.
It is healing their soul that can be the most difficult. Many cats have never walked on anything but concrete or even been outside. This is where Insync truly excels. These cats are LOVED and no matter how long it takes InSync heals their soul.
This is an unbelievable place! The cats that are brought here are filled with love and caring. After medical treatment, they are nurtured and cared for with dignity and respect. The before and after photos are amazing! Each volunteer treats the cats like they were their own. Truly, no better place for these God's creatures to live and play the rest of their lives. Everyone needs to see these animals and the wonderful work that is done here.
This is the most caring and loving organization that I have seen. The volunteers never fail to continue to give compassion to all animals of all sizes no matter what the condition the animal is in. I love to give to In-Sync Exotics because I know that any money I give will be use in the best possible manner for God's creatures. I strongly encourange anyone reading this to do the same and know that you money is not wasted. J. McIntosh
This place is amazing! I came here with a friend about a year ago and fell in love with all the fur friends. I haven't read all their stories because I would need several boxes of tissues but the ones I have read are unbelievable. I brought my family out last week for the Big Cat Egg Hunt. I was very impressed how well organized this event was. Fantastic! We girls had a fun time. Thank you!
It's a great facility with a wonderful mission. The staff, volunteers, fellow board members do an amazing job taking care of the amazing cats, nugget, and Katie. I hope people will help support the facility now and for years to come. This is an important cause. Please continue to support us in our efforts to educate the public about these amazing animals.
I cannot express how privileged I feel to be a part of the volunteers at In-Sync Exotics. We were told in volunteer orientation that it is all about the cats. And it is but the volunteers are not left out either. I have watched as volunteers give their all in the cleaning, care and feeding of theses amazing cats. And when the work is done, they will stay and companion with their favorite exotic feline. There are many special events held in appreciate for the hard work the volunteers do, such a camp outs nothing fancy…just fun. Back to the cats, we laugh together at their silliness and cry together when a beloved resident crosses the rainbow bridge. Yes, it is about the cats. As for me, In-Sync will continue to be on the top of my best non-profit organization list. For many reasons, but for one in particular, if you will excuse the pun…the lions share of donations goes to the betterment of the cats and the sanctuary and not administration costs like other organizations I have been exposed to. Thank you In-Sync Exotics for being a wonderful example of “…we are of one breath, one spirit with the animals of the forest…”
I completed an internship at In-Sync Exotics. As an intern, I received the opportunity to tour other facilities in the area as a learning experience. I learned that not only did In-Sync feel like the greatest sanctuary, by comparison to the others I visited, it is THE BEST sanctuary. The cats at In-Sync are clearly the first priority (like they should be). They are extremely well taken care of and loved by so many. The volunteers at In-Sync are loyal and hardworking and truly care for the well-being of these beautiful animals. These cats get the best of the best in every aspect--they have wonderful cages, playgrounds, nutritional plans, and enrichment. You can clearly tell that these cats feel loved as they always appear happy and excited to see their caretakers. One main difference I noticed between In-Sync and other sanctuaries was In-Sync's attention to the medical needs of their cats. The cats are even trained to accept medical treatment as needed without sedation--this is so important to ensure the cats get the medicines they need without causing risk or harm by sedation or stress. I have the utmost respect for the founder of this sanctuary--she's doing it all right. :)
I love this organization. The people who run it have great hearts and really care about what they are doing. Every time I go I see the cages being kept clean and the animals being loved on. They take animals that have been abused and neglected and who are unwanted in other places and make them feel loved and appreciated. They give them a place to live out the rest of their life in peace and happiness. I have seen the changes in personalities of some of these magnificent creatures as they realize that they are now loved and adored by many! I love that it is so close and can go whenever the desire strikes. In my opinion there should be more facilities like just like this one all over the country and world. If more people cared like the people who work/volunteer for Insync I believe our world would be a MUCH better place!
I just LOVE to vist In-Sync with my grandson. We live about an hour away but visit/donate every chance we get. It is so rewarding to see how well kept all the animals at In-Sync are. I also enjoy their blog, it is the first thing I read in the morning. I have learned so much about large exotics cats from the blog.
This incredible facility was brought to my attention by a co-worker. Being the animal lover I am, I couldn't wait to get out there to see exactly what it was they do as a sanctuary for "big" cats (and some smaller cats, too!). I'm not exactly sure what I expected, but what I found exceeded anything I could have imagined! The attention, the care, the LOVE these "kitties" are shown is unbelievable. When you see the magnitude of the operation and learn it is run solely through donations and the work of volunteers, it humbles you. EVERYTHING done at In-Sync is focused on the well-being and happiness of those living there. It is so clear that a great deal of research goes into the care of each resident - each cat has a specialized diet and individualized care. When visiting with Vicky (founder), the love in her eyes and the pride in her voice - you would think she's talking about her own children.......and, in a way, these cats are. She has given them shelter, nursed them back to health, is respectful of their place in our world, and most of all, loved them.......unconditionally. As I told her, "there is a special place in Hell for those who did harm to or neglected these magnificent cats." "There is also a special place in Heaven for people like her!"
In-Sync is a beautiful sanctuary for big cats. Their.community involvement has educated so many people and saved the lives of many cats. Seeing before and after video of rescued lions is truly miraculous. And seeing the cats in person, seeing how well taken care of and happy they are warms my heart.
I've always been fascinated with big cats, so I was thrilled to find a big-cat rescue center so close to where I live. It's amazing! My daughter volunteered there for a few summers when she was in high school and loved it. Getting up close and personal with such beautiful creatures is such a thrill. (She later went to South Africa and did volunteer work at The Lion Park.) I was also somewhat amazed to see Vicki (the boss lady at In-Sync) actually inside the cage with some of the cats. Uh... what? :-) I go back every so often, taking friends and family who have yet experienced it. I can spend hours there, easily, just watching the cats and talking to them. It's beautiful and peaceful being there, until the lions decide to start a chorus of roars. Then it's rockin'...
In sync Exotics is my favorite place to go on a cool spring day. There is nothing like taking a walk among some of God's most glorious creatures. Hearing the chuffs of the tigers and singing of the lions is something you will not soon forget. This has all been me reviewing In-Sync on a selfish personal level. Let's get to the other stuff. In-Sync staff are angels here on this earth. If everyone could be even a little more like them, there would be no homeless, hurt, or even sad animals on this earth. Seeing the relationships and bonds that they have formed with these big cats is one of the most amazing things I have laid eyes on. And for what? They make no profit other than payment with chuffs and happy eyes saying thank you . For them that is enough. These big cats are wonderfully taken care of, but so costly. I do hope that everyone gets a chance to witness the greatness that goes on at In-Sync at some point in their life. Just volunteering there for a short time and visiting, the big cats have left a paw print on my heart forever.
I honestly can't describe how amazing this organization is. How selfless do you have to be to give these cats the life that they would never have otherwise at a great cost to yourself? Vicky and all the volunteers are truly angels sent here from heaven. These sweet and helpless cats receive 5-star treatment and are given the most amazing life they can dream of.
I have visited and volunteered at In-Sync Exotics and I can truly vouch for the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into taking care of these wondrous creatures. I am fallen so completely in love with so many of the cats here.
Not only is it a safe haven for the cats, In-Sync is also a great educational place. I have learned so much from visiting and volunteering there. It's a great way to be up close and personal with some of God's greatest creations!
The exotic cats at In-Sync are so loved and cared for by the staff and volunteers. I have been impressed by the high standards Vicky Keahey sets for the care of these beautiful cats and some of the stories of rehabilitation from the horrid conditions they were rescued from are remarkable. Lions and tigers on the edge of death have been restored to health and look so beautiful, you would never know they were so hurt and neglected by their previous owners. The sweet "chuffs" and happy sounds they make when we clean cages are obvious signs that they are happy cats enjoying a much better life than they had previously. They love enrichment time and look like kittens as they roll around and explore new scents and taste new treats. As a volunteer, I can tell you it is a hard day's work and no one works as hard as Vicky all day, every day to provide these cats a happy, healthy life. This facility is not easily found unless you are looking for it so I'm sure spreading the word to receive all important donations for the care of these animals is difficult and time consuming. I can also tell that every penny they receive is put toward making a better lives for these cats - nothing goes to waste at In-Sync. I have worked many years in dog and cat rescue and never even seen a rescue facility run so efficiently.
Our daughter volunteers at this santuary on a weekly basis. She truly loves the big cats and loves doing what she can to improve their quality of life. We believe that In-Sync is a much needed and wonderful organization. Kudos to the organization, employees and volunteers as well as those who contribute financially to keep this organization a viable organization.
Every time I visit InSync Exotics, I leave feeling more and more certain that these cats couldn't be in better hands. The interactions I see between the staff and the cats demonstrate such a high level of care, compassion, concern and love. It's also obvious that they want the animals to have the quality of life that they deserve but couldn't have in their lives prior to arriving at InSync. It just makes me feel good to know that they are doing the amazing work that they do.
Absolutely love what the sanctuary has done, is in the process of doing, and will continue to do for these cats. it's absolutely amazing the level of care the animals receive each day. I have been a volunteer since August and plan to help out In-Sync Exotics as much as possible in the future. I've volunteered for Habitat for Humanity among other organizations, but this is by far my favorite. I'm impressed by how passionate and dedicated everyone is that helps at In-Sync. I feel like my time is spent wisely and it's very self rewarding to help out these previously abused majestic cats. Highly recommend In-Sync to all my friends and other in the area. Come out and support the cats and who knows, you might end up in a volunteer green shirt in a few months.
In Sync Exotics is a wonderful rescue operation for animals that have nowhere else to go. The organization serves mostly big cats (lions, tigers, mountain lions, etc.). In Sync also does a lot of work educating the public. I first visited In Sync with my daughter's school. I was really impressed with the safety of the facility and the care the animals receive. Many of the animals were saved from situations where they were housed illegally and mistreated. In Sync is providing a good home for these injured souls. It really touched my heart.
Their facility was clean and their animals all looked very healthy. I really enjoyed seeing them so up close because it really made me feel like they really something in the flesh instead of a show on a science channel. Thanks for making our visit awesome!
My entire family loves going to In-Sync Exotics. The employees and volunteers there are so warm and welcoming, and are always excited to share the stories of the animals they care for. It is not only an educational experience, but a look into the hearts of people who care for these cats. We are never disappointed when we go!
I spent an entire summer at In-Sync as an intern and I have to say, I have never seen a more wonderful place for neglected and unwanted exotic cats to spend the rest of their lives. The people who volunteer here are dedicated and caring people who work tirelessly so that the animals at In-Sync get the best treatment they can possibly get. Here, it is all about the animals and making sure that they spend the rest of their days in a comfortable, enriching, and loving environment. This place has actually inspired much of my passion for wildlife biology and conservation while attending college, and there will always be a special place in my heart for In-Sync--for the caring people who work there and the wonderful cats who live there.
I worked as an intern at In-Sync Exotics for an entire summer, and it was honestly one of the best jobs I've ever had. The people who work and volunteer here put absolutely all of their effort into making the cats at In-Sync comfortable, entertained, and happy. Many times people work long hours to ensure that the cats are getting the absolute best treatment, and it shows in the happy chuffs of the tigers and the singing chorus of the lions. Also, In-Sync does a great job with informing visitors about the unfortunate stories some of the cats have had, why it is just not a good idea to own wild animals, and how they can help by working to change legislation. In-Sync is a warm, open-hearted facility full of people who are only hoping to make a difference in the lives of big cats who have had hard lives. I truly love this place.
In-Sync is a wonderful place where abused, neglected, and unwanted exotic cats can find a new home. I've yet to visit or volunteer at a place that offers so much (in terms of companionship, medical care, enrichment, etc.) to their animals.
I have visited other rescues and In-Sync is far above the others in caring for these animals. I recued domestic cats for many years and can easily see how well-adjusted, contented, healthy and even happy these cats are. I love supporting the wonderful and heartfelt work In-Sync is doing for these magnificent creatures. The whimsical pictures say it all!
I work at a local school making crafts that we donate part of the proceeds to In-Sync Exotics. In-Sync has taken an active effort in rescuing wild cats which in many cases might be put down. They work very hard there at the rescue center making sure standards are kept high for these beautiful animals that GOD set on this earth for us to respect and admire. As well, In-Sync Exotics takes an active part in the community and with our school in the education of these beautiful felines. Please consider In-Sync Exotics in your non-profit donations as many of the workers are volunteers, and In-Sync Exotics needs the donations to care and maintain the facility and health and wealth of our beautiful friends. In a time of economic downturn - every cent means a world to this wonderful and outstanding organization, dedicated to each of it's family members.
AWESOME sanctuary. The people at In-Sync Exotics love their charges and will do anything for them. The sanctuary is so well kept and the animals are happy and know they are loved and safe!
In-Sync Exotics is an amazing organization! I can't express how wonderful these people are! Every time I go out there to read to the new cats I feel the love they have for every single one of their cats. The tireless and exhaustive efforts they put into these amazing animals is overwhelmingly spectacular! I am extremely proud to be associated with In-Sync and highly recommend this organization...I can't say enough great things about them!!! I wish there were more stars...I'd give them 10000000!
I started volunteering at In-Sync in October, 2011, and have been highly impressed with the level of care given to the cats. The staff and volunteers are truly in love with the cats and work hard to provide the utmost care.
After spending many years financially supporting animal sanctuaries and animal welfare organizations, I visited In Sync Exotics. I was immediately impressed with the large, well maintained enclosures for the animals, the friendliness and knowledge of the staff and the stories behind the sanctuary's residents. Each resident animal has a unique story that involved being somewhere they did not belong and mistreated by their owners. These stories affected me deeply and made me realize that In Sync was a place for misfits. Everyone was treated with respect and care and especially love. I felt this was a place where I belonged, too. I always arrive to do my volunteer duty with an excitement of working with a great group of people and leave each shift tired, but with a big smile and a satisfaction that cannot be gained by a simple monetary donation. In Sync Exotics has made me feel like a better person.
In-Sync Exotics is a wonderful rescue center. They have done so much for big cats everywhere and care deeply for their animals. Every time I bring my friends or family to visit, they always enjoy every second of it. You can really see the love and trust between the cats and the volunteers. The workers and volunteers deeply care for the cats and their well being. They'd do anything to make sure that the cats are as happy and healthy as they could be! I've volunteered there since December of 2010, and I always look forward to going to take care of the tigers whenever I can. It truly is a joy!
I cannot accurately describe what a positive impact this sanctuary has had not only on numerous exotic cats (& a coatimundi) but also on its staff, volunteers, my family and me. It’s nothing short of amazing what is accomplished on a day-to-day basis to heal and nurture these magnificent animals.
I have been volunteering there for 18 months and I’m still in awe every time I go out there to clean cages, or pass out enrichment. In just the last year I’ve personally witnessed the rescue of 14 exotic cats. Of the 14 cats rescued, 10 were from horrible conditions where they were malnourished and/or had medical issues there were untreated. One of the bobcats had been shot and left to wander with a wound to her leg. Now, every single one of them is well on their road to recovery and most look like completely different cats. It’s astonishing to see the positive transformation in health and emotional well-being of each cat.
I’ve also seen how much help is needed. Time, money, goods, and services are always needed to help keep the cats comfortable. Vicky and the wonderful Board Members make sure every penny goes where it’s needed the most to keep the environment as healthy and productive as possible for the cats and Nugget. Any little bit not only helps, but is also greatly appreciated.
It makes me feel good to know that genuinely good people actually exist and are out there willing to do what it takes to make a difference. And above all, it gives me hope that maybe one day there won’t be a need for a sanctuary like this because people will quit using and abusing these beautiful animals. Until then I will continue to spend as much time helping Vicky and the wonderful team of volunteers at In-Sync Exotics.
Let me just start this by saying that since I was a little girl, I’ve LOVED cats of all kinds and always wished that someday I would be able to work with them. As I got older and after I had a horrible experience working for a veterinarian, I felt that dream slip away. I never thought I’d be able to experience the joy of being around these beautiful cats and making a difference in their lives. I’ve been volunteering at In-Sync now for a year and I can’t even accurately describe how much happiness it brings to me. Vicky has set-up the most wonderful environment for those cats and their only job is to be as happy and healthy as they possibly can for the rest of their lives. Vicky and Mak pour their heart and soul into the welfare of these kitties and it’s inspiring. They are my heroes. Then, you add to that the wonderful work of all the volunteers and it’s absolutely amazing.
I found out about In-Sync after President Obama was elected. In 2009 he sent out emails to encourage people to do volunteer work. There was a link in that email to a search engine where you could search for volunteer work based on a key word. Not thinking anything would come up, I typed in "Big Cats" -and much to my surprise "In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center" was the first result. I sat on that information for about a year because of how much time I was pouring into my job at the time.
In the summer of 2010, my brother and I made the hour drive over to the facility one weekend and were completely blown away. Not only could you see the kitties closer than any zoo, but the enclosures were extremely safe and clean. The double cage system and the fact that each animal gets access to a playground for several hours a day is amazing. And if there was any doubt, all you have to do is look at the beautiful kitties. You can SEE how happy and healthy they feel. I had no idea that Tigers chuff when they’re happy to see you until I went out to In-Sync.
Immediately my brother and I decided to volunteer. We contacted the volunteer coordinator, Chemyn, and let her know we were interested. After the interview process, we were allowed to come out and start learning how to do various tasks around the facility. It’s hard work but it’s so rewarding to see these beautiful creatures treated so wonderfully. Now, even though my brother has been busy with school I still make the hour drive out to the facility every other Sunday to work my tail off for those kitties.
It’s truly wonderful to be a part of this exceptional organization and feel like I’m actually helping and counteracting some of the stupid actions humans have done to these cats. I really feel like one of my dreams has actually come true.
Upon my first visit to In-Sync I was so impressed by the care the animals were recieveing that I decided to do more research into this outstanding sanctuary. I have to say that there mission statement tells it all: "To provide a caring, safe haven to some of God's most beautiful creatures. We put their needs above all else; the old, the maimed, the unwanted can find sanctuary here." Since then I have been volunteering almost every week for the last 3 months and I can say that they certainly do this and more. The staff and volunteers of In-Sync Exotics are fully passionate and dedicated to making the lives of these majestic animals the best they possibly can and I am very proud to be a member of their large family. Please help support this great cause in anyway you can.
