This Center is valuable in so many ways. First, it is a badly needed resource. They treat nearly 1,000 avian patients every year. These are ONLY native species. That's a lot of sick and injured native birds that are saved and returned to the wild. Second, it is a great facility for education. They have made substantial improvements in the Sanctuary and it is a very pleasant place to visit and learn. And Third, it has grown into a significant tourist destination. Too windy to go offshore? Go visit the Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary! Highly Recommended!
We make this a regular stop every time we go to the Florida Keys. We love walking around the boardwalk seeing the different types of birds they have in their care. We've always been so impressed with the conditions of the cages and the care that these birds get. We aren't wealthy but we always leave what we can in their donation box. They deserve to be financially supported because their work is so important to our environment.
Great place. They do amazing work saving the birds of the Keys. They also share a lot of information to educate people on the lives and habitats of the local birds.
I have visited many times and always impressed by their top-notch caring rehabilitation service toward our injured So Florida birds.
Visited the location during a trip to the Keys this year. A wonderful location with amazing, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable volunteers and staff.
I had an amazing experience when I was an intern at the FKWBC. Being behind the scenes I was able to see how much effort and dedication each individual puts into the health and care of the birds and the facility. This is a great place to support and even years after my internship I still try to support the FKWBC when I can!
I Love These people AND Their Mission ❣️
Many Times They Have Assisted Me in The Rescue of a Fallen Bird
They Are Responsive, Compassionate and Golden Hearted
Blessings Galore❤️
Amazing group of folks that are always available and quickly respond to help injured birds. They care for and rehabilitate them with the hope of returning them to the wild. Those birds not able to be released are cared for and live their lives in natural habitats.
This is an amazing place. It is so fun to visit their facility and check out all their amazing work!!! I truly appreciate what they do for the birds of the Keys!!!!!! Amazing and caring people!!!
I have been a here a few times during my trip down to the keys and I have absolutely loved it each time!! The birds are always taken care so well, and the staff has always been super nice! Highly recommend going here if you ever take a trip to the keys.
We have visited the center on a number of occasions with our children. Always someone new to see. Very fun to learn about the birds and to see the work they do.
Absolutely a gem of the Upper Keys. Love their facility and the educational aspect of their mission. They rescue and rehabilitate birds yes, but also teach the public about our local avian treasures. The staff and volunteers clearly love what they do and we are so lucky to have them in our town.

I go every time I am in the Keys. I love the boardwalk and spending time with the rehabilitated birds. I also watch the releases online.
The wild bird center is a vital part of our community and a valuable asset to citizens. They are always on call and available to assist native birds that are found sick, injured or in distress.
Great facility and even better staff. Maggy made my experience so enjoyable and it was great seeing her passion come out as she talked to me about the center. We love Maggy and Erin!
Stopped here by chance while on vacation. What a great decision. Such a great experience and loved seeing the birds in the enclosures. Highly recommend stopping in of you are in the area.
This group does such admirable work in rehabilitating the birds of the keys. We're lucky to have such a dedicated group of professionals and volunteers!
Fantastic charity. I have dropped off birds at the rehabilitation. They were cared for immediately, and kept till able to fly.
I visited the center in September and it is well worth a stop when you visit the Keys. The work they are doing is amazing! You will see all different kinds of birds and learn about them and their survival stories. If you are a bird lover, or just appreciate our feathered friends; you need to support this hard working organization. #keepthemflying
I have ben to this rehab a couple of times and am so impressed with how they tret thier patients. So much care and such a great layout to allow guest to visit. I have donated many times to help them becuse I know how many lives they have saved.
My boyfriend and I love stopping here everytime we visit the Florida Keys! I love to see all the birds and support them through buying their merchandise:)
I am a trained volunteer in the Everglades. I know the importance of every animal, however, the birds are extremely important. Every year I created 3 curriculums for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. I wrote an intense study for raptors, wading birds and land birds.
The children visited the Everglades and had a chart to identify the birds and a camera.
A project was expected in 4th grade after having chosen their favorite birds.
They loved it.
We knew that birds got hurt and we were very grateful for the Bird Sanctuary.
Many thanks for all you do.

We went there on a trip years ago and found it fascinating. Such good up close looks at many species of wild birds and many great photo opportunities. We learned a great deal and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The work they do rescuing and rehabilitating is laudable.
have been a long time instagram follower & was in the keys recently and finally got to visit the rehab center!! all of the enclosures were well maintained & the birds were beautiful with lots of educational information spread throughout, very educational & important work
The Florida keys wild bird center is a vital part of our community. They are always on call to help injured birds. Their center is a gorgeous walk though right on the Florida bay and their hospital is open for emergencies 24/7.
Great people and even greater cause!!
You won’t find a more detonated staff that are actually passionate about the work they do!!!
The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is great! The staff are wonderful people and the birds are all well taken care off. You can visit the sanctuary and see all sorts of raptors, shorebirds, and songbirds (and Fred the parrot!) or bring injured birds to their hospital. They also have a 24/7 bird emergency line and the staff who answer the phone are kind and helpful :)
We took them a bird we found that needed help on a fishing trip. They took the time to send us an update. Very committed organization who goes above & beyond to help the birds and animals in need. Thankful for all they do!
This is a great place to visit in the upper keys. I drive up from Key West a couple times a year to see the birds and have found it to also be a perfect way to gift bird loving friends with everything by sponsoring a bird in their name.
I have visited the center many times , and my husband has donated for years. The relaxed feeling of the place, the care that the animals receive, and the grounds to walk around are a high point of every trip to the keys.
Wonderful rehab center where you can observe some of the permanent residents and learn about bird rescue and conservation.
We visited this sanctuary on the way to Key West...they are doing wonderful work, and their Instagram feed is always full of fun content and interesting bird education!
Hidden gem in the Keys. We visit here every time we travel down. We used to live in Miami and all visitors were treated to breakfast at Mrs Mack's followed by a visit to see the rescued birds.
Pelicans used to often be seen on the pathways and we have tons of pictures. The back bay was a natural area for sea birds to congregate.
Sadly a lot was damaged by hurricanes but they are rebuilding bigger and better.
Beautiful facility, clearly well cared for birds. I can tell the people involved are very passionate.
I love visiting the center every time I come to the Florida Keys! They do amazing work and the staff are always so nice and knowledgeable. The countless species of birds are, of course, the highlight!!
I’ve called the bird center multiple times to help with injured birds, and they have been prompt and helpful each and every time. The birds at the center are always healthy fed and clean. It’s kept in tip top shape. I also love how they also teach the community on social media how to protect and help birds
They are the go-to place for locals to call when a bird is in distress. They do a great job educating about their animals online and also with sharing animal safety tips for the area.
We happened to drive past Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center while visiting the keys and turned around to stop by! I’m so glad we did. We were able to see all kinds of wildlife up close and ask questions to the staff. It was a great experience and we visit each time we are in the Keys.
Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is integral in keeping our fester friends flying! I am so thankful to have them in our community!
We love the sanctuary - we live 2 hrs away but have driven down just to visit here on more than 1 occasion! We also love following their rehabilitation work & learning all about local birds and what we can do to protect them! What a great organization.
Wonderful sanctuary for birds! My husband and I did a year membership of sponsoring Aria so she would be taken care of as we were so touched by the stories :)
THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, COMPASSIONATE PLACE. THEY DO RESCUES, REHABILITATIONS, OUTREACH AND THEIR INSTAGRAM IS NOT ONLY HILARIOUS AT TIMES IT IS VERY EDUCATIONAL. I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS LONG TIME NON PROFIT HELPING THE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS, ANIMALS AND PEOPLE OF THE KEYS.
My husband and I had never heard of this organization until our trip to the Florida Keys about ten years ago. We decided to visit on the spur of the moment and were so impressed with their care for their birds! The pelicans even wandered over to visit with us! We made a large donation as we left. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the Keys!
This organization does a fantastic job caring for many of our native birds and other wildlife species that have become injured due to human impacts, either by fishing lines, collisions with vehicles, and other unfortunate instances that often leave these birds in unfavorable conditions to survive. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center is what all similar organizations should strive to be, by not only taking action to improve the health and wellbeing of these animals but for assisting law enforcement and serving as activists in cases of clear animal cruelty. They should be commended to the highest degree for their selfless work in service to our beautiful wildlife in South Florida and specifically, the Florida Keys!
We visit this lovely place every year since 2013 (minus the covid travelban period) all the way from Belgium. Birds get treated like people, with so much love and care. We even adopted Moody for a while. Make sure to make a visit to this gem when you are in the area!
My husband and I were cutting through on our way to Key West and decided to stop. They have a great story and really help area wildlife when they are in danger.
A one time visit is all it took to realize that our sanctuary and winged critter hospital is one of the Florida Keys hidden gems. I immediately took hold, donated, watched their social activity and continue to spread the word. The staff is kind, friendly and happy to help with any questions, direction compassion and awesome smiles. How fortunate we are to have them.
while on vaca in islamorada, we noticed a pelican with a green chartreuse fishing lure stuck in its mouth and foot. Your rescuers were there quickly and captured the bird after multiple attempts (including jumping in the ocean with clothes on) and were able to successfully rescue the pelican.
While I've never had a direct experience with the rehab, I've followed them on Instagram for years and I am in awe of the great work they do! Besides saving these beautiful birds, they are constantly educating us on how we can protect and appreciate our feathered friends. I now keep local rehab information in my phone in case I come across an injured bird. One day I hope to visit the center and thank them in person!
There was a pelican that would always come near where we lived. One day we noticed Maddie looked like he was struggling. His foot was injured and wrapped in fishing line. We called the Rehab Center and they came picked him up. The coolest thing was that they came back to release him in the same location. Great people and great place to check out!
My Dad and I visited here and really enjoyed it. Loved the outdoor setting. The staff were informative and caring. They take great care of their animals.
We visit EVERY TIME we are near the area and keep up with the amazing work they are doing for the birds. So thankful they keep our friends flying!
They go where needed, no matter how small the casualty and treat it as if it were an endangered species! Not many outfits will bother.
I have visited here twice when visiting my father in law’s place in Islamorada. They have so many birds they have rehabilitated from injuries. The residents that are not able to be released due to their injuries are so well cared for. The staff is so friendly, and are always so happy to answer any questions you may have. I have donated a few times when I can to help their cause
Laura Quinn started this remarkable non profit wildbird rehab and sanctuary in the Florida Keys many years ago. I used to volunteer in the capacity of facilitating transport of birds there from Marathon to the sanctuary when I was on my way to the upper Keys. That was about 30 years ago. I continue to support this wonderful organization even though I am now living in Arizona. I believe in them. The good that is done there is immeasurable!
What a great place! From having a 24/7 bird-emergency phone coverage to offering some of the best rehabilitation, this nonprofit organization is one, if not the best in the country! Thanks for keeping them flying!
Flordia Keys Wildbird Rehab Center is awesome! I have called in several times to have a bird rescued from different causes. They are prompt, kind and most of all doing important work to save and rehab the wild birds of south Florida. Thank you for all you do!
Visited last November while on our honeymoon. Stopped in at the clinic first and chatted with the staff and bought some stuff from the gift shop. Next stop was the rescued animals. Great spot and layout. Loved learning about the Florida keys birds. Was a rainy morning but there was plenty of cover to wait out the rain. Great place and I would highly recommend stopping by if in the area
My sister and I took my nephews and parents to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Sanctuary. We had a wonderful time walking the trails and learning about the birds they are rehabilitating.
Great organization that truly places the welfare of their birds at the utmost priority. Great educational material and informative staff.
This is an absolutely awesome place with some amazing well cared for birds! The staff is super friendly and the service they provide is remarkable for stranded and injured birds!!! The birds can’t say thank you, but we sure can! Great place simply the best!
I interned with this organization in 2019-2020. They do extraordinary work! I learned so much during my time there and saw their amazing impact on both the wildlife and the community personally. They do so much to help educate people about how and why birds are important and how vital it is for each of us to do our part in protecting the natural world. They made an enormous impact on me and I know they do for countless others (both animals and people!), too.
We visited this awesome place while visiting the Keys and were so impressed with them that we regularly contribute to them to support their awesome work! One of those great smaller organizations that might be overlooked, but that does some amazing work with injured wildlife.
This is such an amazing organization.
I found a severely injured Blue Heron and called them. Someone was there within 30 minutes. The girl climbed through the mangroves and swooped up the injured bird in 5 minutes.
Unfortunately his injuries were too severe to save but at least the poor guy didn’t suffer out there.
I was so appreciative of how well they handled it.
If you’re in the area I highly recommend a visit to their sanctuary. Also, donate!!
Please support this fabulous organization. They do so much for our feathered friends and have brought fabulous educational experiences to the kids in the community.
I visit every time I get to the keys. Cool place, well maintained, beautiful location. Love their mission and their residents!
The Florida Keys Wild Bird center goes above and beyond to serve the keys community’s wildlife and has been a long-standing pillar for decades. The bird center is available 24/7 to help sick and injured wild birds and will come to your house to rescue them. They also have a free sanctuary for visitors to learn about birds and they help protect a conservation easement as well as an educational center and gift shop. They offer educational programs for kids and provides the community with a wildlife center to learn and appreciate nature.
They're always there when you call. Well over a decade now my family & I have been helped on numerous occasions with rescues. These fine folks are both compassionate & dedicated. A gem in our community. Visiting the sanctuary is always a joy too.
For over 18 years I have follow FKWBC. It was my first hands-on experience with wildlife that drove my direction in veterinary medicine. This non-profit provides care for the injured, education for the community and the many visitors to the Keys about the perils humans have inflicted on the environment and how we can lessen our impact.
The Florida keys wildbird rehab is one our best treasures in the Keys. We are lucky to have such wonderful dedicated people to care for our injured birds. I love all the education they provide on social media from guess that bird to the xray game.
Thanks you all for the great work you do!
Caring professionals that make a difference to the avian wildlife of the Florida Keys. Great work !!!
Not just a sanctuary for birds!
Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center does fantastic work caring for and rehabbing birds. Every time I visit I feel rejuvenated myself. The staff are friendly and patiently answer questions. I learn something new every time. Well worth a stop when you are in the Keys.
We have brought in a couple of rescued birds for care here. They are always so helpful and compassionate to the birds. It's a wonderful resource for us here in the Keys!
Wonderful bird sanctuary. We live nearby and enjoy going throughout the year to see the animals and learn about our local wildlife.
My husband and I visited this rehab center and were so incredibly impressed by it. The birds are clearly treated with love and respect, I love that their goal is to release the birds back into the wild but if they can't, they have a forever home. I always tell people about this place and to visit when they're in the Keys. They also provide really great information about birds and how they're taken care of - it really is a very impressive facility.
Love the work this organization is doing with birds down in the keys! I walked through their sanctuary and enjoyed learning about the birds.
A wonderful asset for our community! The FKWBRC educates visitors and residents alike on the fascinating variety of migratory and native species in this area. We are very fortunate to have a top notch facility for rescue, rehab, and release and education in the Upper Keys.
The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is one of the best kept secrets in the Florida Keys. The sanctuary has a great boardwalk that takes you along the homes of the full time non-releasable residents and has some very interesting facts about them. The boardwalk ends at the very picturesque Bay Area where you can see wild birds in their natural habitat. New renovations to the Pelican Pond look great and the staff are very helpful. If you are going to the Keys, definitely put this destination on your list. Don't forget to swing by the Rehab hospital and education center which is just south of the sanctuary. Lots to learn about birds there and a great gift shop!
Wonderful, caring staff. Knowledgeable, and kind. Always interested in doing what is best for the patient, while taking care to address the public with helpful information. 10/10 would recommend.
We love Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center! They not only take care of our injured wild birds, they also have GREAT community outreach through their educational programs and fun events such as Owl-O—Ween.
I have visited several times and as recently as yesterday. We also for the first time visited the Aviary Hospital and public education exhibit area in the front building 1.5 miles south of the Rehabilitation Center. My wife and I always make a point of speaking with the volunteers like Ken who helped with the carpentry on many of the enclosures and volunteers four hours per day. The place is constantly upgraded. Mrs. Quinn, the original bird lady and founder, would be very proud of what this facility is currently doing for the local avian wildlife.
This is a top-notch organization; well-run by dedicated and passionate people. The improvements that have been made in the last couple of years are amazing! Every time I go I am so impressed by the progress that is being made and I learn something new about our local birds. I am so glad that we have a center like this in our community to help teach our kids to be good stewards of the environment.
BIRDS! The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is a wonderful rescue organization here in the Upper Keys. On call for "birdgencies", they respond to any and all bird rescues. Their sanctuary is well run and offers visitors a chance for a close encounter with many of our local bird species. You can even "adopt" a bird!
I have LOVED this place for years. The work that is done is amazing. I simply don't understand how they can do the work that they do in such a challenging environment.
