I joined this organization just a little under a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed attending their golfing events. Not only the golf but meeting fellow Veterans from Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Fairways for Warriors staff members through their golf outings promote comradery, fellowship and four to five hours of peace of mind enabling the members to forget troubles even if for a moment. They also educate everyone on mental health issues and offer counseling both individual and via group sessions. The organization genuinely cares about their members and offer their support to their family members as well. During these golf outings the staff members ask members who have participated in the mental health counseling to share their experience and if they benefitted from the therapy, which all I heard responded it was a very helpful experience. Mental illness is a very serious and most often overlooked disease that millions of Veterans suffer from, this organization is doing its best to shed light on the issue and provide individuals with the help they require. All in all, with what they do a 5-star rating is an inadequate scale, they are by a far 10. The only short comings of this organization are the number of Chapters they have, they need more so they can do more.
