Mission: Access Partnership facilitates the connection between those with health care needs and available resources. Our Vision is that All residents of Hampton Roads can obtain health care needed to achieve personal wellness.

Results: Distributed donated medical supplies and equipment valued at over $468,000 in 2019 and $381,000 in 2018. Collaborated with Family and Youth Foundation to distribute 432 winter coats in South HR. Helped Union Mission give out 430 scarves and hats during winter months. Supported Health Fairs (Alliance for Veterans Health, EVMS Spanish Health Fair, Seventh Day Adventist Health Fair, etc.) by donating supplies and equipment, educational material and lending exam chairs. Connected and referred nearly 2,000 callers to oral health services and coordinated 142 applicants for Donated Dental Services program 82 individuals receiving dental care valued at over $478,000 (2018-2019). Coordinate with Healthy Chesapeake to provide support and care-connection to residents of Chesapeake (since Jan. 2020)

Target demographics: Uninsured and under insured, low-income adults ages 19 years of age and older.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 1500 individuals connected to dental services and donated supplies and equipment

Geographic areas served: Hampton Roads Region of Virginia

Programs: Health Access programs including medical and dental. Availability of donated medical supplies and equipment. Community outreach events and education.

I want to thank you for the services you put out in helping others. Access Partnership connected me to a very generous donor named Diane. She was such a blessing in helping with my cousin Norman Powers and my mother. Norman was a prisoner of the Korean war, and was caged like a dog for 27 months his knees to his chest. He has not slept in a bed for a long time because the bed that he had was an older version and wasn't comfortable. Also want to thank Diane for the very expensive lift chair that she gave me for my mother whom is stage 4 COPD and struggles to get up when her breathing is bad and can't lay down when having breathing problems. Thankful to have this organization in Hampton Roads! They identify gaps in the health safety net and work very hard to find solutions. Their services are used by many Case Managers to obtain medical and dental care, DME, nutritional supplements and other resources that patients don't have funds to cover.

My son was referred to Main Street Physicians in Suffolk for dental work he badly needed by Ms. Hall of Access Partnership. I called them and they were able to see him within a week . There is a small co-pay involved but the Dentist was very nice . Even though we live in Va Beach the trip is worth it since my son needs a lot of dental work done. Thanks again to Ms. Hall and Access Partnership .

I got married and during marriage my teeth were always getting worse and there was never money for dental work. I was sent to a dentist by Access Partnership. The dentist was great and greatest dentist ever. This really helped my relationship with my son too. My son was so embarrassed to be with me and my rotten teeth. I can now smile and even say how wonderful it feels to look at my self. They were able to save all but one tooth. Never had pain. It was really awesome!

I was in so much pain with my medical problem and dental problem. I called 13 phone numbers to get help and no one would help me until I reached Access Partnership. Access Partnership promised to help me until problem is resolved and they have. They referred me to a dentist who referred me to an oral surgeon. There are alot of people with no or too little health insurance and this dentist and oral surgeon took the time to help me. These are all great people.

I was in a bad accident 30 years ago and I spent so much on medical expenses that there was no money left to take care of my dental needs. Through the medications that I was taking for my medical needs, my teeth rotted. I looked for help for many years for my teeth. Through Access Partnership's Donated Dental Services Program, I finally had my bottom teeth repaired this morning. The dentist was unbelievable - nicest guy! The whole thing was wonderful.

The Virginia Reuse Network (VRN) is a partnership among state agencies, non-profits, and individuals interested in helping Virginians with disabilities access vital durable medical equipment/assistive technology. The VRN serves Virginians who are uninsured, underinsured, or lack resources to acquire technology on their own. Access Partnership has been an excellent partner in helping our state's assistive technology program (Virginia Assistive Technology System) meet our mission to help individuals have access to and acquire appropriate and affordable assistive technology. The Access Parntership "News Flash" is an excellent resource for durable medical equipment and other community resources. Candie at Access Partnership has helped individuals with disabilities all over the Commonwealth by providing durable medical equipment at no cost. Access Partnership is a strong contributor to our "Virtual Network" and along with our other formal and informal partners, is helping Virginians gain access to needed rehab equipment!

This is a great services providing in the Hampton Roads community. The most important thing is that for liminted and low income residents there are resources, but in the past were hard to find. The second issue is the frequency of updates and ease of referring residents to needed services. Fantastic!

What can't I say about Access Partnership...the services they offer are absolutely awesome and much needed. I'm elated to see that finally there are those who understand you can't separate the oral cavity from the rest of the human body...and are now offering dental service to those in the community who have no dental insurance or money to pay for life saving dental treatment.

I am so blessed to have connected with an organization like Access Partnership. A great group of people with supersize hearts for the needs of the less fortunate.

This program is wonderful. We have worked with Access Partnership for over 2 years and we like that we are able to give back to the community and in particular, we like knowing the patients are not only being responsible and accountable for their healthcare, but they are also being educated on how the program and the process works with respect to proper healthcare utilization. I think one of the greatest appeals to collaborating with Access Partnership is that it removed the practice from determining whether or not a patient was indigent and/or met the federal poverty guidelines for charity care. It reduced the administrative time and paperwork required to make this determination and removed the practice as the decision maker on this sensitive issue. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I am thankful for Access Partnership because...it is true to its mission. This is no small thing. I was diagnosed in February and I missed my chance to get a donated CPAP machine in June because I was out of town so when you called today, I was so grateful and came right over. I am blessed to be both a employee as well as a client served with Access Partnership. I am a full time student studying to work in the healthcare field and a single mother. I work part time after school ehlping with the Community Access to Care Program, and am really enjoying it so far! I started with Candie, Heather and Carrie in the middle of July and they all have been wonderful bosses/coworkers/mentors to me, and have really opened my eyes to giving back to the community. And in fact, when I told Candie that I had not seen a dentist in over a decade she helped me get an appointment at the ODU School of Dental Hygiene so that I could get my teeth cleaned and x-rayed. During my first week with this organization I was already being included to attend meetings and a webinar given by the Virginia Department of Social Services. After attending the webinar, I used the information I learned and applied for assistance online (Common Help). It feels great to make a difference in someone's life and give back to the Hampton Roads Community. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!

Physicians for Peace partners with Access Partnership when we are offered donations of equipment and supplies that we cannot use to support our mission. Access Partnership connects patients in need with equipment and supplies in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Richmond and even Washington, DC. By working together not only are we able to connect people with equipment and supplies that they need to help with their medical needs but we also keep these supplies and equipment out of our landfills. Hopefully Access Partnership will continue to grow and help many more of our friends and neighbors in the future.

I work with an organization that assists adults that have physical and mental disabilities. When we have a fire drill or need to move the patients quickly, it can be difficult to move everyone in a timely manner because some of the patients move quite slow. So, we were in desperate need of wheelchairs for our patients. We only had a couple wheelchairs. So, I contacted Access Partnership and was able to come by and pick up a very nice donated bariatric wheelchair. I had the perfect patient in mind for that wheelchair. And, I asked Access Partnership to continue to keep us in mind for future donations. We greatly appreciate it.

I am a full time nursing student and only work part time in the hospital so I have no medical insurance. I am now experiencing medical issues that I can't afford. I am working with the ACC clinic to get the help that I greatly need. They have referred me to Access Partnership who has helped me in getting a CPAP machine that I can't afford.

I was not sleeping and up all night. I really needed some rest. CPAP machine would really help me to sleep. It did wonders when I tried it out with a sleep study. I felt excellent and vibrant. I'm hoping it will do the same at home. I would rate it a 10 instead of a 5.
