Mission: The Yorkville Common Pantry (YCP) is dedicated to reducing hunger while promoting dignity and self-sufficiency. YCP champions the cause of the hungry through food pantry and meal distribution programs, nutrition education, basic hygience services, homeless support, and related services. YCP's community based programs focus on East Harlem and other underserved communities throughout New York City.
Target demographics: Our pantry service serves 21 NYC zipcodes. However, no one is turned away through 365 YCP, our active assistance program, we meet the critical hunger needs of all who enter our facilities.
Programs: YCP community-based programs include: Our Food Pantry program, the largest community based food pantry designed to meet the needs of our families by providing culturally appropriate and nutritionally balanced food to over 1,700 families weekly. 365 YCP, our acute emergency assistance program that meets the critical hunger needs of all NYC individuals and families regardless of what borough they reside. Project Dignity provides case management services, such as benefits screening, medical appointments and other social services to homeless individuals. Hot Meal Program serves breakfast Monday through Friday and dinner 3 times a week. Nutrition Initiative for Children and Families offer eleven cooking and education classes to adults and children.
