The WREM Literacy Group, Inc. helped many citizens in need to stand amidst trying and difficult financial times. If it were not for their service and assistance, I would still be homeless with my three kids. I know personally of many families that were helped with decent housing because of them. I have witnessed families with more than 10 kids get a home. Senior citizens now live comfortably back in their homes that WREM demolished and rebuilt. They found a way to make housing affordable by writing grants and holding fund raisers. I was around WREM when they started the WREM SPIL program to address the issues of children, who aged out of foster care. They provided quality housing and superb service to these young adults. It was a sad day in Waller County, when the doors to the organization were closed. There has not been another nonprofit offering services that put single mothers, senior citizens, and foster care children in safe, decent, and affordable housing.. They are missed!

At this particular program they do not stick to their promises to help build and serve in the community. They will "temporarily" give you a place to stay and then they force you to figure the rest out on your own. With no further guidance there after. Personally I would not recommend and of my transitioning Alumni youths to go there unless they are seeking to be severly dissapointed in their areas needing help. They kicked all the pregnant woman with children out due to them not feeling comfortable with the women's hormonal change. And the rest of the youth they almost lead astray with their broken promises and lack of given attention. This program is should only be for senior citizens it is not organized or arranged to help youth in crisis situations, only leaving them with no further help thereafter their entry. This was told to be a transitional program the only transition they help you through is the door.
