Woof River sets the standard for how rescue organizations should be run. When we adopted our younger dog from them a few years ago, they were thorough in their review of us as dog owners, and then, once we were approved, they were thorough in helping us decide the our pick was right for our family. Chatting with the foster dad was key to our understanding to what to expect when our dog was sent up North.
When we recently lost our older dog, I contacted Woof River again because they are so trustworthy. One of the things I respect most about Woof River is that they are concerned with finding the right match for their dogs, not just a home. And that might mean being disappointed that the dog that pleases your eye is not the dog you should bring home.
As we continue our search for our next dog, we hope we will find him/her through Woof River.
Our experience in adopting a dog through Woof River was almost too good to be true. The picture of the dog on their website caught our eye but the brief (extremely accurate) write-up is what told us this was the dog for us. We then filled out a 5 page application which included personal references as well as the name of our vet (who they contacted). Then there was a series of emails, videos and many phone calls to the case worker (Weatherly Tanner) who answered all of our questions in addition to telling us everything we needed to know about the dog including not just the good but also the naughty. Our dog came with all shots required and was in the best of health. If you want to adopt an animal (especially a dog) there is no one better than Woof River and Weatherly Tanner.
