Mission: Women aware is committed to a vision of a just society. Our mission is to end domestic violence in the lives of women, children, and men and to change societal attitudes and institutions that promote and condone violence, through public policy advocacy, education and programs and services that promote lives free of abuse.
Programs: Non residential services:our legal advocacy program aims to help domestic violence victims receive justice by increasing their understanding of, and access to, the protections afforded to them by the law. On a given day, women aware's legal advocates are in the courthouse assisting survivors of domestic violence navigate the judicial system by filing for a temporary restraining order, attending final restraining order hearings, and submitting applications for custody, child support, and other parenting concerns. Children's trauma therapyour licensed therapists offer counseling for child witnesses of domestic violence ages 3-12 and supportive services to non-offending caretakers.
women aware is the state-designated lead domestic violence agency for middlesex county. We offer comprehensive services to those affected by domestic violence through residential and non-residential programs. Our services include:emergency shelter: our crisis shelter for women and children fleeing abuse is at a confidential location with 24-hour staffing. We focus on trauma-informed crisis care while offering intensive case management, including safety planning, counseling, housing assistance, advocacy, health education and screening, and translation service. Our hotline is available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year for crisis intervention and resource and referral information for victim-survivors of domestic violence. Translation is available in over 200 languages.
