WCNKAS is not only a great animal rescue, but they also hold yearly youth camps, where youth can learn more about raising and taking care of animals. I highly recommend WCNKAS both as an animal rescue and for their yearly camp. WCNKAS goes above-and-beyond by also assisting law enforcement with animal rescues. The WCNKAS team goes to a great deal of effort to assist the Wilson County community. WCNKAS is more than an animal rescue, they're part of the community, and they take an active effort in education as well.
From the first time I looked into her huge eyes, I was head over heels in love, and WCNKAS made it possible for me to adopt Sophie, even though I live 4 states away. I love following their Facebook page, as this nonprofit organization shares story after story of animals that otherwise would have been put to sleep, getting a second chance to a happy ending. Their selfless volunteers generously pour their time and resources into the lives of hundreds of animals each year. They are a model organization for every shelter across this country.
Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter is a Godsend to the beautiful unwanted, abandoned animals of Wilson County. They are the angels these poor animals need to help them get to the wonderful life they deserve. They work day and night purely out of the love in their hearts and compassion for poor helpless animals. Our county is so blessed to have this amazing organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and facilitates the adoptions of so many beautiful animals. They are the best!
These ladies have pulled of a miracle to build this shelter. Without any help from Wilson county. They just got donations for a van to transport dogs, again with no help from Wilson county. So if you have a little to spare please donate to them

I could not have picked a more caring and compassionate place to foster my first dog from. They are dedicated to helping even some of the sickest and broken dogs. They are amazing!
This shelter does an outstanding job of assisting Wilson County - purely built and run by volunteers! I watched this shelter get built from the ground up - again by volunteers and funded by fundraising, donations etc. - They do an outstanding job caring for abandoned animals, strays and assist our local Sheriffs Department by helping in 'tragic' situations when called upon. They also do an amazing job getting animals under their care vetted and prepped to be transported to states up North where they have a better chance of being adopted and finding their furever homes, therefore, opening up room at the shelter for more 'local' animals - I cannot say enough great things about the people who have made this shelter the awesome success it is - they are truly amazing and deserve medals!!

The work carried out at Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter is second to none - and all work is performed by local, dedicated volunteers. All work selflessly and dedication is paramount for all the animals health, happiness and welfare. When alerted to an animal in need, no time is lost from retrieving the animal and vet care/assistance is sought when necessary - every effort is made to locate any owners whilst the animal is kept safe, warm fed and cared for. Volunteers meticulously clean kennels, monitor, feed and socialize/entertain the pups/kitties during their time at the shelter - until they are adopted. And they fundraise constantly to sustain and maintain vet bills and food costs etc. incurred along with shelter upkeep - an absolute phenomenal organization.
I have a hard time going to Shelters as want to adopt them all but I was so beyond impressed with this Shelter and the kind, helpful, loving people who run it and assisted me and my son in picking out our new love of our life. This Shelter is very well run, organized, extremely clean and can see the love for the animals from all who work and volunteer there. They were very patient as we meet with several dogs to get to know them and answered all our questions and gave us great info regarding adopting a new fur-baby. We left adopting a new companion and family member and could not be more thankful for Wilson Co. No Kill Shelter and their help in this new chpt. of our lives.

I foster for this rescue. They do amazing work with amazing animals providing them food, shelter, medical and then finding them a furever home. They are big, small and everything in between. They are the bridge between the homeless and their furever homes. They work tirelessly and are always in need of help so please do.
This rescue does so much for our county. They are amazing, give so much of themselves, and are angels on earth. If I could give them more than five stars, I absolutely would.

after county officials played the shell game with bond proceeds and didn't provide the county with the resources to begin responsibly caring for stray animals, a small group of animal lovers raised funds and created WKNKS. The folks spearheading the organization and the volunteers making the magic happen have created a materially better situation for the stray animals in our rural community. They are to put it plainly; INCREDIBLE.
From nothing to a bunch of determined animal loving people did the impossible. They built (and continue to build) a safe place for strays, dumped animals, animals in medical need and everything in between. They provide educational opportunities for the children of the community to keep the love and respect of animals. There is nothing there guys and gals won’t do to help an animal in need. They were sent from heaven.
WCNKAS is a very dedicated group of volunteers who go above and beyond for animals. They also help many others with their efforts to save animals and spend countless hours making sure all the animals in their care receive everything they need to be healthy, happy and ready for loving homes.
My Sophie was rescued through this organization. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the individuals that have worked so hard to turn a dream into reality. I cannot say enough positive things about WCNKAS. This organization is incredible. Completely run by volunteers, founded by one amazing, hard-working, dedicated, selfless woman, and committed to saving and changing lives. Our precious girl, Bonnie, was brought here as a puppy. She broke with Parvo within days of arriving and the WCNKAS staff worked tirelessly to make sure she and her brother survived. We feel so blessed to be a part of the WCNKAS family.

The facility started on a shoestring, but thanks to an Army of enthusiastic volunteers, it has grown into a vibrant, well-run shelter the entire community supports whole-heartedly.
The animals that are lucky enough to enter its welcoming doors are given the best care available; local veterinarians treat injuries and illnesses with remarkable results and when the little patients have healed, they are adopted by loving families.

Words cannot do justice to the amazing community service WCNKS provides to Wilson County. The volunteers work tirelessly to save animals and prepare them for adoption. The shelter is impeccably clean and it’s apparent the animals receive top notch care.
They are also skilled at pairing you with an adoptable animal. After losing our beloved cat of 18 years, the shelter recommended an adorable cat that would fit the unique needs of our household. We love WCNKS and will continue to support them!
WCNKAS is an amazing non profit organization for Wilson County. The volunteers that work there are self less, hard working and dedicated volunteers. They keep the kennels clean, animals fed water and vet the animals. They love and care for each of these animals.

Brandy is the best. I had to surrender 3 dogs and she was so amazing. I surrender at the vets and she vetted them immediately. Sent pics the following days. 3 yrs ago was when I met the folks at WCNKAS. Since that time I’ve adopted 3 dogs from them. Because of the caring people at WCNKAS I started volunteering at the shelter. I can honestly say the dogs at the shelter are well taken care of. They definitely deserve 5 stars.

Great facility, wonderful caring volunteers that go above and beyond to carr for the animals in their shelter. I've been there and have seen 1st hand what a day for them is like and it's hard work, no pay, no vacation, no days off, etc.... I also have fostered for them many times and have contacted them about animals in need and they have stepped up and ensured that animal got the care that it needed/deserved. And my favorite thing about WCNKAS is the education of the young kids, their critter camps, and much much more. Lastly I adopted my last foster Chico from WCNKAS, I am so lucky to have this little guy with me and it's thanks to them. Keep up the amazing job guys, you are so appreciated by so many in our community.
I have been involved with several rescue organizations and WCNKS has, by far, been the most helpful and organized. The dogs are well vetted and cared for and their kennel is amazing. They are run solely by volunteers, without assistance from the county. They rely 100% on donations.
You can tell they really care about the animals that they care for every day, and genuinely want to be there and do what is best for them.

I took in a foster through this rescue that was severely emaciated. He was given a second chance because of them. Their vet is amazing, respond well, and our foster has made an amazing recovery.
WCNKAS is an amazing organization that is dedicated to saving animals in need. I have had the personal privilege to volunteer side by side with other volunteers and have also fostered dogs for this group. Every volunteer in this organization puts their heart and soul into caring for the physical and emotional needs of the abandoned, abused, neglected, and starving animals that find their way to this organization. Animals are fostered, rehabilitated, and then adopted out to loving and caring families.
I was blessed with the opportunity to foster two groups of sweet babies. 5 little Lab mix puppies that where 12 weeks old. This organization rescued these babies allowed me to love them for 2 weeks while them hunted an area that would help find them loving forever homes and transported these puppies along with other sweet animals to their forever homes. As a new foster mom I had a lot of questions regarding the care of the puppies and no matter the time of day or night the ladies associated with Wilson County No Kill Shelter where there to answer my questions.
The second group of puppies where 4 Chihuahua Terrier mix puppies that where rescued at 2 weeks of age after their mother died. The Shelter found foster moms that got to bottle feed these babies every 3 hours. The Shelter has prepared social media ads to reach forever homes for these sweet babies.
Wilson County No Kill Shelter has saved so many animals but they also have blessed those of us that have been granted the opportunity to become foster parents. I became a foster mom to the 4 bottle feeding puppies just 9 days before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The ladies with Wilson County No Kill Shelter saved me too.
Absolutely love this Shelter! WCNKAS has done so much to help out the animals in the community! It makes my heart smile knowing that we finally have a shelter to help with the overwhelming problem of neglected animals!
I volunteer with this organization and what has been accomplished in a short time is amazing. Wilson County, TX desperately needs an animal facility and this group is getting that done! Unparalleled compassion for animals that need help.
Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter (WCNKAS) goes above and beyond to take in abandoned and neglected animals with minimal resources. Recently WCNKAS took in 60 plus animals that were being neglected by a local group in La Vernia, TX (BNG Foster Program) when BNG became overwhelmed and couldn't care for the animals properly. The Wilson County Sheriff's Office received numerous calls from local residents in regards to the dogs. Due to the condition of the dogs the Sheriff's Office contacted the WCNKAS. WCNKAS took the animals, provided medical treatment for all the dogs, spayed/neutered the animals, provided shots, and returned all the animals back to health. After the animals were returned to health, they were all adopted out to good homes. WCNKAS is a non-profit, run by passionate volunteers that truly care.
Due to the responsible and caring individuals running the WCNKAS these animals had a happy ending and are with loving, caring and responsible pet owners. Otherwise no telling where these animals would have ended up.
WCNKAS has dealt with many similar scenarios and have turned a really sad situation into a blessing for many pet owners.
WCNKAS is diligently trying to raise money to build a facility. Just imagine what WCNKAS can accomplish once they have their facility built!

I had to put my precious Zsa-Zsa to sleep in July of 2018. I visited with the volunteers of the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter shortly after. They were very compassionate about my recent loss and were more than willing to help me find another fur baby. They were so supportive and wonderful and it is very obvious the devotion they put into working non-stop to help the animals of Wilson County. I have donated to this organization and will continue to do so as they work so hard to make such a positive impact on our community.
Wilson County No Kill are passionate and truly care. There was a small dog in an empty field next door to me. It was freezing cold for days and I couldn't catch her. I finally did and Alena Berlanga drove from Floresville to San Antonio, took her to be fixed, examined, shots, the works. She found her a wonderful home. Thank you with all my heart.
I work for a small city in Wilson county and we have an animal holding facility. We only hold animals for 3 days then they are to be euthanized. Since working with WCNKAS we have not had to euthanize any.They have saved many lives and have been a blessing to help us. As a worker I stress every time we have a unclaimed animal and WCNKAS has turned that stress into success. I personally have adopted a dog from them that was one of the worst cases of neglect they had. And am the proud owner of Justice thanks to their care of him.
