Causes: Community Clinics, Health
Mission: To assist in providing medical care to the un-insured of newton county and surrounding areas at no cost. The clinic hopes to reduce the indigent patients using emergency rooms for non-emergency purposes.
Programs: Willing helpers medical clinic experienced a major change near the end of 2016 when the local city ordinances changed and we were required to move the clinic out of the modular units we had purchased in 2010 and then expanded in 2012. These units had to be moved off the property. We were able to sell these units in 2017 for a small price to an organization willing to disassemble and move the units. At the end of last year we had moved the clinic to a store front location in a retail shopping center. This location continues to be a positive move for the clinic. The clinic has formed an association with the local hospital that we are very excited about. The clinic is now seeing patients released from the hospital for follow up care. We have extended times and days open to accomodate these people. We expect our relatonship with the hospital to continue to grow and it's our hope to be able to serve even more of the medically un-insured in need of care. Our partnership with a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation program continues to be another opportunity for us to serve the men in this program. None of this would have been possible without the tireless dedication of the doctors, nurses and many volunteers that give their time each week to help.
