Community Health Outreach is a true nonprofit gem and provides so many services to Jacksonville residents. I began volunteering at CHO and have been upgraded to a board member for the past year with many thanks! The goal remains the same: to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, and heal the sick and they stay true to this vision. Services are provided with compassion, care and respect for all. So happy and proud to nominate CHO as a nonprofit that helps so many people. Come see us and get the volunteer bug-you’re needed too!
A group of my fellow coworkers and I volunteered with Community Health Outreach (CHO), a local non-profit in Jacksonville, FL who runs a free to low cost medical clinic. We were able to volunteer in the Lord's Pantry, their ministry where food donations are collected and distributed to families 3 days a week. I personally was tasked with placing the packed bags of groceries in the family's cars which was very humbling and rewarding to say the least. People of all ages, races, ethnicities, and abilities drove through to receive food for the week. I was so impressed by the organization of the volunteers and how everything worked like a well oiled machine to make sure each family received food that catered to their family. Treats were even hand picked for families who had kids. Over 350 families were able to receive groceries that day. I could not believe that so many families were hurting, right in my own community. I was so glad to see that a place like CHO existed to help these hurting families. I was so moved by the work they are doing, that I had to be an ongoing volunteer. I don't feel like a number there, but a part of a team, working to make a difference. Volunteers are appreciated and much needed in order to make the most impact. CHO is an amazing organization that really understands what the community needs and works to fill the void.
