I started to help pack food at the food bank this year (2017). I help pack boxes that will be delivered to the surrounding counties which includes the senior housing for those who qualify and sign up for the program via Community Action. There is also at least 1 day a month where people who qualify come to the food bank, bring a box or basket, walk in an assembly line and volunteers put in food products. Volunteers will then carry the box or basket to your car for you. Most people are very happy with what they get from the food bank. I think giving my time to help this organization keeps me busy, active and grateful. It is worth trying if you are physically able to stand and turn.
