Programs: The organization holds programs and events to create stronger ties amongst member organizations and all jewish residents of westchester county, ny. In addition some interfaith and interethnic programs are held. Our night of music was held on november 19, 2016. The cantors of westchester county under their organization, kol hazzanim, entertained over 400 people to a variety of songs from broadway shows. After the program, there was a dessert buffet and live music. Our 41st anniversary gala honoring paul warhit and jeff kohn was held on february 4, 2017. 489 people attended. The evening started out with a buffet, followed by the program featuring eric dittelman, a mind reader, ending with a dessert buffet and live music. This is our major fundraiser enabling us to continue service the westchester jewish community. Some of our programs include roundtables for presidents, executive directors, and security personnel and volunteers to learn from each other on how to enrich their organizations, leadership training and recognition, volunteer recognition though our julian y. Bernstein distinguished service award ceremony, and having a community calendar on our website showing the public what is happening in the westchester jewish community.
j-teen is a leadership program for jewish high school students to strengthen their leadership skills through volunteerism, advocacy and work with elected officials.
our westchester jewish music & arts festival, sponsored with westchester county, was held on august 21, 2016. Over 1,200 people attended. There was music and entertainment for all ages and music interests. There was jewish folk and pop music as well as juggler for children. We had food and craft vendors. Our member organizations were offered tables to inform the public about their organizations. It was held at kensico dam, which had a playground for children as well as areas to walk around.
