Causes: Child Day Care, Children & Youth
Mission: Watch them grow children's center mission is to provide the highest quality care at an affordable rate for the families in our community. We strive to offer as many educational opportunities possible for the early childhood population we serve.
Programs: Watch them grow (wtg) childcare center serves children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten. Wtg operates 2 centers with full day, full year child care and education programs. Both centers partner with the orange east supervisory school union early childhood education program. Both centers take children using the vermont state childcare subsidy, and children in vermont department of children and families custody. Both preschools use the ts gold assessment tool for evaluating preschoolers. Both centers participate in the child care food program. In 2014 the centers served a total of 61 children and 47 families in 2 states and 9 surrounding towns. the bradford center is a 4 star program that serves children ages 6 weeks through kindergarten. In 2014 the bradford center was awarded the strengthening families grant, a 2 year grant that provides opportunities for the center to provide opportunities for the child(ren) to do different activities with their families sponsored by the school. The bradford center is located in the riverbend career and technical center at oxbow high school. There are several different programs at the technical center that have done projects that incorporated the kids. An example of this is emergency services program does a fire safety week, which allows the kids to see and explore a fire truck, see fire people in their full gear and learn about fire safety. the newbury site is a 2 star preschool only program in newbury, vermont. The center is run out of newbury elementary school, a big emphasis is placed on integration and collaboration with the elementary school. The kindergarten teachers spent time throughout the year in the preschool classroom in an effort to make the transition as simple as possible for the incoming kindergarteners. Using space in the school allows for the preschool students to have access to the gym, library and other area's throughout the elementary school including invitations to special performances.
