Mission: Washington alliance for better schools is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization established in 1995 is a collaborative of school districts that leverages resources, talent and intellectual capital to help over a quarter million students graduate career and college ready. Washington alliance for better schools is the recipient of educationally-based state, federal and private grants which provide funding for the implementation, evaluation and reporting of each grant received.
Programs: Wabs has partnered with the marysville school district at four elementary 21st century community learning centers: liberty and quil ceda tulalip, cascade and shoultes elementary schools which are highly impacted by english language barriers and low academic progress. Data collected from the district indicate a priority needed for extended time to improve math and reading skills. The program focuses on improving student performance by tutoring, homework help for math and reading, youth enrichment and recreation programs, and hands-on science and technology education.

wabs 2012 stem (science, technology, engineering and math) education initiative included an externship and fellowship programs for middle and high schools teachers that includes professional development for principals and other district leaders and an after-school stem academy in king and snohomish counties.
wabs administers one other program: natural leaders. Natural leaders reduces non-academic barriers to learning strengthening local community capacity through partnerships between schools and communities.
