Valley Care Association facilitates the provision of services that enhance the quality of life for seniors residing in western Allegheny and Beaver counties. Adult Day Services provides a safe and caring environment where someone with memory loss or physical challenges can spend the daytime hours one or more days each week engaged in meaningful activity with the personal care and medical attention they need. Home Safe Home helps to identify and correct safety hazards so that older adults can continue to live independently and safely in their own homes.
Results: Valley Care Adult Day Services in Ambridge PA is at capacity. The organization is seeking property to develop a second adult day services site in Western Allegheny County PA. Partnerships with area agencies on aging and local donors allow Home Safe Home to serve those who are unable to pay for home modifications.
Target demographics: Valley Care Association serves seniors in the Sewickley Valley area. Valley Care Adult Day Services is a day program for those with physical or cognitive challenges who live within the community and should not be left home alone during the day. Meals, personal care, medical monitoring and social and therapeutic activities fill the day in a home-like setting. Valley Care Association Home Safe Home educates the community and families about the seriousness of home safety, particularly for those who are at risk of falling. We publish and distribute (free) the "Self Guided Home Safety Tour," which provides a room-by-room safety tour with safety hints and tips. Our professional staff are available for home inspections and installation of safety equipment such as bathroom grab bars, indoor and outdoor railings, wheelchair ramps, and home modifications that help people remain in their own home as they age. Valley Care Association's Grants Program supports organizations/programs within the Sewickley Valley area that serve seniors living within the community.

Programs: Adult Day Services is a place where old adults with memory loss or physical challenges can come during the day while a caregiver works or keeps up with other areas of life. Clients receive breakfast, lunch and a snack, as well as a full day of engaging activities in a safe environment surrounded by caring staff members, including a full-time nurse. Onsite services include bathing, hair care by a beautician, podiatry, and physical, occupational and speech therapies.
