Causes: Diseases of Specific Organs Research, Health
Mission: Usher 1F Collaborative is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose mission is to fund medical research to find an effective treatment to save or restore the vision of those with Usher Syndrome type 1F.
Results: Over $1.1 million in funded research to 5 research labs at academic medical centers in the U.S. and Australia. We now have a zebrafish and a mouse model of Usher 1F and have begun development and testing of gene, drug, and stem cell therapies, the latter using new retinal cells made from patients' own skin cells.
Programs: Fund medical research to find an effective treatment to save or restore the vision of those afflicted with usher syndrome type 1f.
