Mission: The USA KIA/DOW Family Foundation (USAKIA) is here to increase ability to demonstrate the strength of families with killed in action (KIA) or died of wounds (DOW) while in our U.S. Armed Forces. KIA family and public support through USAKIA programs such as membership, memorials, and direct support to KIA families will honor their memory, show gratitude, and provide America with social justice. We are there for the whole family, and we are also a unique organization begun by KIA family members, for USA KIA family members, and for us, every day is Memorial Day. "All gave some... Some gave all."
Programs: Events: We have two events a year at Moss Landing, at the site of J&S Surplus & Outdoor Store, one Memorial Day in May and the other Labor Day Weekend in September. Membership: Membership is open to all, but families of U.S. KIA are asked for less money and can actually get free membership if they need it. It is currently a charter-membership program with under 25 members. Online Presence: We have a Web site at http://usakia.org or http://usakiadowff.org, and two Web rings, Brothers Always and KIA Memorial. Public Forums: We have several mailing lists setup so far. The groups or mailing lists are: 1) KIA Memorial, a Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kiamemorial ,2) USA KIA and DOW Discussion, an AOL group at http://groups.aol.com/usakiadowfamily , and 3) Memorial Day, another AOL group at http://groups.aol.com/rememberkia . Free Flag Program: USAKIA gives a free 3x5 KIA flag to KIA and DOW families, along with other items, free via Priority Mail. SF Bay Area Amusement Parks: USAKIA provides tickets to families of U.S. KIA and DOW.
