Mission: Through the application of judeo-christian principles, the two state ymca, inc. Builds communities which nurture personal growth in spirit, mind and body. We develop, conduct, and support programs which foster responsible citizenship, healthy lifestyles, environmental stewardship, international understanding and cooperation, concern for others, and respect for individual differences. Supported by volunteers, our ymca encourages participation by men, women, and children regardless of age, race, creed, socioeconomic condition, or cultural heritage. All persons are welcome at our ymca regardless of their ability to pay.
Programs: Our developmental and educational programs provide opportunities for youth which shape values and encourage lifelong charitable community service, healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardship. Financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford to pay the full cost of programs. Financial assistance granted for 2017 was approximately 9. 1% of total tuition for 2017. Resident camp becket for boys, resident chimney corners camp for girls, and day camp; the ymca camping program provides a lasting experience of personal enrichment. The residential and day camps offer adventure and learning activities that provide challenge and promote spiritual awareness, mental development, physical well being, social growth, and self-respect. Camping helps youth become aware of their physical and mental capabilities, recognize the value of cooperation, and gain confidence. The number of participants served was approximately 1,616. Youth travel and service programs give teenagers good experiences to help them develop self-esteem and values including cooperation,respect, good citizenship, and a strong work ethic. Our teen travel programs provide international cultural exchange as well as service learning and enviornmental education which help youth develop an appreciation of charitable service and preservation of natural resources. The number of participants served was approximately 152. The berkshire outdoor center promotes environmental education and community leadership programs. The programs help build leadership skills such as understanding, respect, responsibility, and caring for self, each other, and the environment. The number of participants served was approximately 14,912.
