Programs: Tree Pittsburgh is an environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the City’s vitality by restoring and protecting the urban forest through tree maintenance, planting, education, advocacy, and land conservation. Our vision is to create a healthy urban forest for all by inspiring and engaging people to maintain, plant, and protect trees. We believe that all people have the right to benefit from the many health, environmental, and social benefits that trees provide. A greener city will create more vital communities for generations to come. Tree Pittsburgh, formerly Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest, was founded in 2006 to address the concern for the well-being of Pittsburgh’s trees that improve the region’s quality of life. Our mission is to grow and maintain a healthy and robust tree canopy that enhances Pittsburgh’s livability and community well-being through innovative programs and practices that strengthen the urban forest. Tree Pittsburgh is the only local organization exclusively dedicated to urban forestry. We work with individuals through our Tree Tenders volunteer program to plant and care for trees in their neighborhood. We also serve as a resource for other nonprofit partners, municipalities, and government agencies.
