Mission: To provide scholarships and financial incentives for students, veterans, persons of the year and local non profit organizations that share in the core american values of equal opportunity, progress, and freedom in the areas of education, health and civic engagement. .
Programs: The new american dream foundation, inc (tnadf) have since 2014 presented the american dream awards to 12 students of the year, 4 persons of the year, 3 veterans of the year, and 2 non-profit organizations. That represents a total of $44,000 in scholarships and financial incentives that was only possible to be achieved with the continuous commitment and support of each one of our sponsors/donors. The american dream awards gala, which is the main fund raising for the foundation, also raises funds to benefit the western connecticut health network/danbury hospital. For the past four years, tnadf has worked with local venues to keep food cost down so it could give more to the hospital. In 2017, the $15000 in proceeds from the event's tickets sales were donated to the hospital to help subsidize part of the cost of the mission mercy- a day of wellness provided by a partnership between danbury hospital and western ct state university to offer free health care treatment to the local uninsured population. So far, the event has raised $49000 just for the hospital. Between scholarships and the hospital funds that amount is $95,680 since the event's inception. The donations tnadf receives from its sponsors are utilized to offset the costs of the american dream awards gala and used for the scholarships that help out students subsidize the cost of their college tuition. And many of the recipients have remained in the area attending local universities such as the western ct state university, and uconn. In 2017, tnadf held for the first time the children's christmas charity event which provided food, and an opportunity for underprivileged children to have their picture taken with santa claus. Over 500 children participated in the event. The event cost $2,680 which was paid in part with tnadf's funds and donors contributions. It is also part of tnadf's plan to financially assis local non-profits. For that, we are asking the community to make donations of any amount, anytime of the year through the foundation's website. That way, tnadf will be able to build a fund separate from the money for the scholarships to assist local non-profits with missions that identify with the new american dream foundation's core purpose.
