Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Children & Youth, Children & Youth Services, Human Services, Neighborhood Centers, Racquet Sports, Sports
Mission: The mission of The Center is to serve as a gathering place for the community to come together and make friends. The Center strives for excellence in meeting the human service needs of all those living on or near by our barrier island. We are focused on the community and open to all. In doing so, the Center is often seen as an “Educational Center,”, a “Recreational Center,” a “Youth/Teen Center,” and a “Senior Citizen Center,” and also serves as a Post Hurricane Shelter. The Center is all of these and much more.
Target demographics: children, teens, families, adults, and senior citizens
Geographic areas served: Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, Bradenton, Long Boat Key
Programs: senior citizens gather for cultural, educational, health and social programs. Children and teens participate in character building before and after school and are involved in athletic endeavors, art, drama, music, camps designed to develop their best potential. Families and individuals participate in classes ranging from parenting classes to aerobics and yoga. Islanders look to the Community Center for all this, as well as family support and counseling, individual achievement and the true meaning of a caring community.
