We adopted our sweet Dolly through Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! The team was incredibly thorough in their adoption process, ensuring that Dolly was matched with the best possible home. They took the time to get to know us and our current dog, Luna, and provided thoughtful guidance in choosing Dolly.
Their support didn’t end there—they gave us helpful advice on introducing Dolly to Luna and followed up with us several times to make sure everyone was adjusting well. It was clear from start to finish that they genuinely care about the dogs in their care and the families adopting them.
We highly recommend Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue to anyone considering adopting. Their dedication and compassion are unmatched, and we’re so grateful for the wonderful addition they’ve brought to our family. We’ve even stayed connected with their Facebook group and continue to donate to support the amazing work they do. Thank you, Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, for all that you do for these beautiful dogs and the families who love them!
We adopted our Pyr/Blue Heeler mix, Truman, 10 1/2 years ago from TGPR. They were a great source of help...we knew nothing about the breed or what to expect...just fell in love with him at first sight! Then, life got in the way, and we grew apart from the group. I recently reached out to TGPR-SA for help with my now-senior dog, and it's as if we've never been apart! I was offered so much assistance and quality advice...I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all of the caring individuals in this organization. I feel totally supported, and I know they will stand with me, allowing me to continue to love and care for Truman. We age, right along with our pups, and big dogs often have unique needs we pet-parents don't consider at the beginning of our exciting adoption adventure. But this team is with us both for life, and I am so grateful!!
I knew nothing about Great Pyrenees before I fell in love with my neighbor’s dog. She was everything you’d want on your furry family member. Searching for a dogter I could give a loving home I found TGPR and was lucky to be approved for adoption. They rescued Leia’s mum and took care of her pregnancy and then her litter. As they do with every one of their rescues, they healed them physically and emotionally. Leia is the absolute best part of my every day and I am forever grateful to TGPR for matching us and for the constant support to the community ❤️ Now I volunteer to give a tiny bit back to the best organization I have had the pleasure of knowing
I stumbled upon the Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue (TGPR) after moving here and starting my search for a Great Pyrenees to call my own. When I found out that it is fully volunteer run, and all dogs are kept in foster homes, I couldn't help but feel like I found the spot I wanted to adopt from. Folks who are doing this because they care about these dogs and keeping them in homes to better curate what kind of adopter they need, is exactly the organization I would like to support.
So, we adopted our pup at five months old after meeting him in the fosters home and haven't looked back! I love that they have a strong social media community you can go to and find help, resources, and camaraderie.
Thank you TGPR for all you do for these dogs and the community.
TGPR is an amazing organization that is very well run. They have a great network and go the extra mile to help people find the perfect dog for their family. They are very thorough in vetting potential adopters to make sure that their dogs go to the PYRfect home.
I have adopted 2 dogs from TGPR and will adopt more in the future.

Thank you for not only adopting but being an amazing foster!!
I started out as an adopter, then a volunteer and a foster home. The people of TGPR have one mission and that’s to provide excellent care for all the dogs they are responsible for. TGPR is a true blessing to so many dogs and people too. The rescue is like family to me.

You have brought so much to our organization-thank you for your service
I adopted my sweet Juliette from TGPR in 2012 and have adopted four more since! This is the best, cleanest, most thorough rescue I have ever dealt with. I love the kindness of the people, the generosity and crazy hard work of the volunteers, and all that they give to try to save the Big White Dogs. Absolutely stellar org! I have been fostering for THPR for 12 years and on the Board for four. I love it! All volunteers and all the money is donated and spent on the dogs. It's just amazing.

You are such an important part of this crazy hard working team-thank you for your service!
Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue is amazing! Not only do they love their rescues and fosters, but they are easy to work with. We adopted our Bear from them in APR 2023. They came to our house to interview us, and, although we were apprehensive about this process due to our experiences with other rescue groups, TGPR was friendly& eager to see their pups go to good homes. They don't just intake cute dogs, but those in untenable, and often dire, situations. In addition, they have a large social media presence and network. You are never alone as a foster or adopter. We have another TGPR alum in the subdivision next to ours. Our dogs love to go on playdates! Thanks TGPR!! May you continue to do good work and save lives!

thank you for sharing your story and becoming a part of our TGPR family!
My family has volunteered with Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue for many years. We love working with TGPR because this rescue really supports its volunteers and adopters! One of our own TGPR dogs is Bo. He was found as a stray, wandering a busy country highway with an 8 week old puppy. Bo had a 5 gallon gas can tied to his neck, which his owner may have used to prevent him crawling through a fence. Can you imagine? Bo was underweight and shy at first, but devoted to the puppy. The puppy was quickly adopted, but Bo was in limbo at the vet's boarding. My family agreed to try fostering him with our 5 other dogs. To our happy surprise, he got along great with everyone. TGPR got him vetted and healthy. We intended to only foster him. So we were happy when a great family wanted to adopt him. But they returned him after one night because he growled at their smaller dog. We decided that Bo was meant to live with us, and it is a "happily ever after" story! Bo is such a wonderful, gentle dog who makes out lives so much richer! Thank you, TGPR!!

We are blessed to have you as part of our TGPR community AND board!! Thank you for all your years of service!
About 2 years ago we had some puppies dumped in our yard. I reached out to Texas Great Pyrenees rescue and within a few days they picked up the puppies. I began volunteering shortly after and have seen how diligent they are with their vetting. I have seen how they come in when dogs are in danger of being euthanized and break them out to find them loving homes. They go above and beyond when dogs are sick and injured. I have never worked with a finer group of volunteers!

Thank you for your kind works and your service helping pups in need!!
I cannot say enough great things about TGPR! They help so many dogs and in the most caring loving way. The dogs are always first. I have adopted (3) and fostered (15?) through TGPR and wouldn’t go through anyone else. They aren’t afraid to take the dogs that need the most help. And these same dogs are now living such wonderful lives.
