I left Brooklyn where I had been a pediatric social worker in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Emergency room and out patient department for 33 years. When I moved to Austin I wanted to find an agency that advocated for children, knowing full well that was very much needed in Texas. Texans Care for Children does it all. They advocate and educate for the well being of all children in Texas and in turn their families. They have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, empathy, and intelligence in the issues they choose to engage. They teach people how to advocate through the legislative process. I have chosen to support this agency by donating and sharing their posts on social media.

Mission: Texans Care For Children works to improve the lives of Texas children by building commitment and action for improved public policy and programs. Our work focuses on what's best for all Texas kids in five areas: health, protection, mental wellness, youth success, and early opportunities.
Results: Secured health care coverage for 1 million kids; Improved the safety of 63,000 in the juvenile justice system; Empowered parents with what they need to know about their children's development and needs; Put better foods and more chances for active play where kids are; Brought needed reforms for victims of child abuse or neglect; Established the Texas Council on Children and Families; Secured services for 1,700 babies and toddlers with developmental disabilities and delays; Made Texas one of the only states to put more money into preschool during a recession

Families and those who work with kids come together around solutions that lead to a bright Texas future.
