Mission: Coordinate agriculture production information with school curriculums. Worked with ojai school district and continuing expansion into other ventura county districts. Continued to expand the "field to table" concepts of farming throughout the county. Expanded communications with farmers direct. Successful programs - field trips, farm day and kids to harvest. State and district curriculums are an integral part of the skeleton with enhancements provided on a daily basis.
Programs: The classroom interaction is the flagship program for "seeag". The program wrapped up the school year needs. Worked with the springtime agriculture crops and agriculture processing plants website design and expanded communication as a regular part of the program efforts. Over 15,000 students and teacher participated. Classroom supplies and agriculture educators provided both in class and on field trips visiting local growers with children. Each month, the program hosts over 1,500 students and teachers in the grower field trips where the children not only see the "field to table" concept. . . But can also enjoy first hand the freshest food available. . . Picked that very hour implemented careers in agriculture program for middle and high school students. Expanded stem science, technology, engineering and math) concepts into the planned curriculum. Program continued use of the limoniera ranch and petty ranch as hosts for classroom field trip progams. Program's transportation costs were held to just over 7,000. This is a huge savings over that which the district could supply.
program development: the executive director and developer of new/expanded programs continued direct education for all salaried personnel along with volunteer personnel. Staff was expanded to support the stem program. The scholarship program developed with the the local ffa progrom proved successful. The high school advisor for this program submitted his top 4 students for this scholarship. A total of 1,800 was devoted this year to this program. Accademic standards along with confirmed college acceptance were amoung the requirements for this scholarship.
the veterans in agriculture has been expanding once again this year. Local agriculture companies are participating with either job applicant placement or advisory capacities. Plows to shares grant was organized for the program. Expanded programs are developing attention throughout the county. Hosted events have expanded/developed the message to over 1,000 new contacts and supporters.
primarily administrative costs, seeag's ratio administrative to direct program costs represents well under 2% of total expenditures. Seeag continues to maintain education, development and now veteran programs with direct costs attributable to these activities at 98. 5%. The program understands that administrative costs must be a part of any expansion.
