I love this program so much! For almost 3 years i had been looking for a mentor for my son and got no response from none of the local fraternities, Boys & Girls club or Big brothers/Big Sister programs. As soon as I contacted SOS they called me and enrolled my son in their program. For the past year that my son has been in the program, I saw nothing but positive changes in his grades, self esteem and our relationship. Mission: Strengthening Our Sons is a male youth leadership program created to empower young males with essential skills for success. Our mission is to equip young males with social, professional, and personal life skills that will help them in their personal life growth.
Results: Since our program has started we have doubled the number of boys involved, partnered with the City of Orlando Parks & Recreation and with Orange County public schools where we run after school groups in select schools.
Target demographics: TARGET BOYS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 9-19 WHO ARE FROM HOMES OF ABSENT FATHERS OR POSITIVE MALE ROLE MODELS.
Geographic areas served: Orlando, Florida
Programs: Strengthening Our Sons male youth leadership program in the schools and in the community, it helps to reduce gang violence, crime, and school suspensions. Our program gives boys and outlet and provides them with an positive environment with men who care about them and teach them different life and social skills.
