My Name is Raul Acevedo i live in cuyahoga falls ohio and i was just diagnosed with asophagial cancer which is cancer in the larynx (the voice box ) in your throat so i was given pamphlets and signed up for different cancer help groups but these people helped me so fast and with out prejudice or judgment i told her i had cancer and just found out the next day i was givin alot of help with house payment my car payment i recieve 240 a week from short term disability its hard to worry about my wife, bills car light gas wow its a lot plus now i have a death sentence
but this foundation helped me i will never forget them cause im going to chemo and radiation both which is hard enough then to worry about bills it just doesnt help me get better i will never for get there help EVER

Target demographics: Individuals and families affected by cancer
Direct beneficiaries per year: Since its inception in 2006, the Stephen A. Comunale, Jr. Family Cancer Foundation has been able to help more than 2500 families with nearly $1 million in individual grants and specialized programs to date. We are excited to continue reaching out to the community during 2014 and have already been able to help 400 individuals/families as of May, 2014.
Geographic areas served: Northeast Ohio
Programs: Day-to-day financial assistance; utility and mortgage payments; grocery and gas gift cards; holiday meals; sunshine bags filled with comfort items to help patients through chemo; summer horse camps for children affected by cancer; and art therapy programs. The Foundation's Distribution Committee confidentially reviews grant applications twice a week and often responds within 48 hours.
