Mission: To further communication among forensic toxicologists in areas of analytical methods and interpretation of findings.
Programs: Semi-annual meeting: about 40-100 people attend our meetings depending on the meeting site. Attendees include members and non-members. Papers cover current issues in toxicology, interesting casework, instrumentation we use, new drugs we are finding in our analyses, medical examiner cases, driving while intoxicated issues, and interpreting drug and alcohol results. We highly encourage our members to present papers, but we also have invited speakers from the field of toxicology (outside our group) and our vendors will occasionally have their applications personnel present papers.
semi-annual newsletter: the newsletter is available on our website so it is available to the public and our 160 members. The newsletter provides details about the upcoming meeting and includes abstracts of papers from the previous meeting and minutes from the business meeting. We award meeting grants to bench-level toxicologists (non-supervisory) who are presenting a paper at one of our meetings.
email list: provides members an opportunity to discuss and share information readily. We have an agreement with the california association of toxicologists to share relevant information through this mailing list.
