Mission: Southwest michigan community action agency's purpose is to provide assistance to low income individuals in southwest michigan.
Programs: Food program: distribute excess commodity foods to eligible persons and supplemental food to seniors and women with children under age six.
emergency assistance: includes emergency payments for past due electric/gas and rent to prevent disconnection or eviction; and migrant assistance with transportation, and limited medical needs. There is a temporary family shelter for single women and families in van buren and cass counties.
weatherization/energy assistance program: insulate and winterize houses for eligible persons.
housing support: includes permanent supportive housing, transitional housing and supportive service coordination for eligible clients. Client development and education that includes group and one-on-one activities to prepare for home ownership.
